speck candyshell or otterbox commuter?

My wife has the Commuter on her GNex and LOVES it. I would happily get one for my S3 but all this talk of the power button issues has me a little cautious.

I got an incipio case from t-mobile today to hold me over and it's decent still waiting on some user reviews of either of these cases so I can go ahead and get either one

its not that bad, just have to push a lil harder, and this otterbox is no joke to install.

Have you taken the case off since you've installed it just to check if there are any possible scuff/scratch marks from the case especially if you are saying its no joke to install??

Just the way the rubber buttons protrude through hard plastic, im about to post pics

Thanks Joey! How much bulk would you say the case adds to the phone?? Does it feel like a brick in your jeans pocket or is it bearable??

Its bearable in your pocket, not too much bulk, pros=looks nice, good protection, free screen protector cons=only 1 i found was installing hard plastic piece over protruding rubber buttons can be a hassle, requires a bit of stretching so you dont damage rubber buttons. All-in-all i like it, don't care for bulkiness of defender and seidio didn't have cases manufactured yet when i ordered this 1.

Thanks!

Both work well, Ive had\used both. But, to be honest through and through I'm an Otterbox guy.

I ordered a Otterbox Commuter, and received it on Monday. It simply works well, and does the job it was 'hired' to do :)

Ok so I got hands on a speck candy shell last night ( on a iPhone ).
From the pictures I have seen of this case I really likes the idea of the extra hard case protection.
However when I dropped the phone on the counter ( owner not in room of course ) a few times, I noticed that the phone took a lot of shock because the hard plastic outside provided no give.
Even the rubber inside did not help cause it is a pretty thin piece, as compared to a full tpu style case.
In the end..... this is not a bad case but it is a little expensive. I do not feel that gives the protection of a tpu case that is half the price.
Anyone agree or disagree?

1) You shouldn't be using someone else phone for drop tests when they don't know about it.

2) The test is still invalid. The newer cases could be made completely different. Buy a shell and test it wit your S3. IF your not willing to test it on your new device then I wouldn't bother buying it as you already don't trust it.

If this was me would say OtterBox all the way. I have owned MANY cases and even with OT no 2 model cases are made the same. Different materiel, feel and thickness and so on.

Cheers...

My response
1. The drop was aprrox 2 inches to see and hear the cases response. And it was a iPhone , Soooo what's the problem.
2. I highly doubt that from the pics online and from the look of the phone that any changes have been made.
3. Even if they did change the case it still has the same design properties , hard case outside with a rubber material inside.
4. With this thin of a form factor the case has to limit the amount of shock absorbing rubber around the phone .... By doing this the phone takes more impact when dropped regardless of the plastic shell on the outside

Its just physics man
**** I am not a phone tester I am a guy who needs a thin case with the best protection. My experience and common sense are all I have to base this on.

WOW, you are def living up to the streotype!! lololol How many times is a "few"??

PS: I'm bustin your balls!!! :P

Listen the only way to test these things out is to "TEST THESE THINGS OUT" now what better way than to test it out on my buddies corporate iPhone .... A. It's a iPhone B. If it breaks his company foots the bill.
WINNER WINNER iPhone dinner

Why would the person spend $35 for a phone he doesn't care about?
