My speech recognition (speech to text) randomly keeps popping up.

Anyone else experiencing this. I don't even have the software keyboard up to accidently tap it and there won't be any widgets that should open it.

I restarted my phone and it is occurring much less.

I wonder if there is some action I am doing where I am inadvertently opening this function up.

Any takers?

Your probably hitting and holding down the captive touch search button on the lower right corner. You know the one with the little magnifying glass.

Had it happen to me a few times before I realized what I was doing.

If you tap and hold down on that button it will bring up the voice search option.

If you press and hold the search home key it will pull up the Google voice search automatically. A quick and easy way to Google search on the run...and insanely accurate.

Also, I've been having issues when I have a cable plugged in to my headphone jack...sometimes it thinks I have a microphone headset plugged in and it launches the voice recognition software.

Sent from my HTC Evo 'cause it WAS the droid I was looking for.

thanks. issue solved, and you just taught me something new and magnificent about the phone. Android/ Evo for the win.
