Forgive me as I'm still waiting for my Note and I've not had a Samsung device in a few years. But my question is does Samsung incorporate any type of system search (like spotlight in iOS) into Touchwiz?

I know there are some third party workarounds from the playstore. But let's face it, they aren't spotlight.

Thanks

Yes it does on the default Samsung launcher, however only thing which frustrates me is when you do a swipe down or up it brings up the search but doesn't bring up the keyboard unless you click the search button. I would have preferred if it also pops up the keyboard and you can start typing or at least provide an option to enable that.

Thanks. I don't know if you have any experience with Spotlight, but if so, how does it compare to SL? SL can search deep within apps. I hate to use the apple cliche, but it just works. And works really well. Not enough to keep me from the note though.

The phone search goes through settings, apps, SMS, email and other items looking for your keywords

You can control what you want to search for in finder settings. In iOS it's called spotlight, on Samsung it's called finder. See screenshot, it can search for applications, or Google search, or within the applications that supports finder search.
