Sprint 2.1 leak

Huh. I guess it's working then. I just didn't think it was because each time I'd install an app the phone's storage would go down when I looked at it in settings.

it will go down somewhat, but i had 38 app and only 20+ mbs free before and after i have 47 mbs free with the same apps.

So now that i've updated to 2.1, my computer doesn't seem to want to recognize it when I plug it in. I don't mean like as a removable disk, but it wont appear in the ddmt program, it says the drivers aren't installed, etc. It seemed like a simple fix; just reinstall the usb driver and be done, but when I try it says it cant do it.

any ideas?

one way to fix this is to install the htc syc software for the eris from the htc support website. the usb drivers need to be reinstalled, i had same problem. also, usb debugging is on correct?

Hello,
Ok, I'm rooting my phone for the first time (I'm trying to do option 2), I succeeded doing the command line stuff and doing the nandroid backup. I copied the .zip to my sd card and flashed it from nandroid, I rebooted the phone, I saw a HTC screen and the Sprint animation but it kept cycling...

For now I restored my phone using nandroid

Did I do something wrong? Any ideas?

Any help you guys may provide will be greatly appreciated.

last night i ran into the sound issue. anyone got a link on how to disable the trackball light & the light sensor if i have to? i'd like to be able to keep the autobrightness, but if i can't right now oh well.

if you get stuck in that loop, there is mode you can go into i think by holding down left volume button and the power on buttom at the same time. That fixed it for me.

(fix) audio loss update update. (update)! - xda-developers

That's where I got the fix. Seems to have done the trick so far to me but I haven't had time to extensively test it yet.

Now I'm just having trouble getting the live wallpapers to stick. It frequently reverts back to an old wall paper. Particularly after I get a text message or clear notifications.

i had the same problem. to correct make sure you do the wipes first.

boot your phone into recovery and do all the wipes. immediately following the wipes before rebooting your phone or anything go then and install the .zip. then reboot your phone. shouldn't have any problems.

Hey Gbhil -- did you find any bugs in the newer version you're running? curious to know if that new build is just optimized or includes any new tangible items. thank yous to yourself, rufflez, and beezy for all the info i have gotten from y'all.

a warning to anyone using mybackup pro. DO NOT USE IT TO RESTORE YOUR CONTACTS IN 2.1!! you will get an error about too many contacts deleted and that is fine in 1.5, but when you try in 2.1 to get google to try and sync back up -- it won't. i got, using several installs, FCs with process.gapps. it also then prevents your contacts from syncing with facebook.

Are you guys getting this audio issue from doing option 3 or only after doing the live wallpapers fix breezy posted? I am running option 2 but thinking of going to option 3. However Option 2 is running solid so I dont really need 3 if it is going to bring me new bugs. Only want to go to 3 because everyone says its faster then 2. I dont plan on running live wall papers since this phone is tapped as it is. I'll leave that candy for the EVO so I have something new to look at if I upgrade.

I am assuming I can flash 3 over 2 without wiping. I hope so since I just spent the last two days setting and tweaking to get my phone the way I like it after doing option 2.

I also ran out of space on the SD card so I am going out to buy a bigger one. Would greatly appreciate advice on copying everything over. I have read I should let the phone partition it but in the past I just swapped one out for the other without even partitioning at all. In fact the one I am currently running I just pulled out of my old "Instinct" and stuck it in.

First off, thanks to gbhil and rufflez for making this thing work. I was really worried that you were out for good, gbhil! Gumbo 1.5c was the only ROM that made my phone fast enough to be usable; I was afraid that I was going to have to stick with 1.5 even after the official 2.1 update!

Which brings me to my question: Literally, every single ROM that I've tried except for Gumbo 1.5c has run slowly on my phone. I've only tried Fresh and this leak as far as 2.1 goes, but both of these make my phone creep along. When I try to type, the keyboard registers my finger too long, and inserts symbols and numbers into my messages. Gumbo 1.5c was the only ROM that ran fast enough to alleviate this issue (running the on-demand setting on gumbo.sh).

Is there anything that could be causing this issue? I wiped my data before flashing this leak, and I applied the Market/superuser patch. I disabled auto-brightness, and auto-updates in applications. I only installed a total of 9 apps from the Market. I used a task manager to check and see if anything unexpected (i.e: Slacker, Pandora) was running the background. I cannot figure out why my phone seems to drag itself along by the heels. Is it likely that there's something wrong with the unit itself?

Side note: When using nandroid to restore my Gumbo 1.5c backup, it wouldn't allow me to do it on the phone; I was able to restore from adb, but it used to let me do that before. It also won't let me wipe the Dalvik-cache without adb. I think this may be due to me updating my recovery recently, but it seems to me that if an update breaks something, another fix is released immediately. I've got RA 1.6.2.

Whats in this leak?

Hello,
I've got a palm pre, so I'm not real familiar with flashing android roms, for christmas i bought my girlfriend a htc hero which she loves (and so do i).

So here's my question, she'd love to have the android 2.1 on her phone, and lately we haven't gotten very good sprint coverage at my house. With my pre forcing roam is easy... If i flash this leak onto her hero, will roam only become available?

It seems everywhere i look, everyone says it depends on the flavor of the rom your flashing for what features you get. so what does this leak have in it?

i need the forced roam capability (would love a widget for that too if there are any?)
and i would also like to get rid nascar, nfl, and amazon mp3 apps.

so does this rom have all that? or does anyone know of a rom i could flash that would offer all that? i was looking into geekfor.me kitchen program but that doesn't say anything about to roaming either.

anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Im wondering the same thing regarding the process from going to option #3 after having completed option # 2. Not sure if it's difficult and if I should leave good enough alone.

Everything seems to be running just fine, 2.1 rocks!

Thank you so much for your help and prompt response, I really appreciate it!

You can always do a nandbackup, flash 3, if you don;t like it, nandrestore back. Backup
Wipe dalvik (maybe even data/factory, too, but maybe not)
flash 3
test it out
don't like it
wipe (dalvik and data/factory reset)
nandrestore

nothing really to lose. If you are successful without wiping data/factory reset, you information should stay, too. Your information is stored in nandbackups as well.

just run it over my current rom from the recovery agent?

Yes, just go into recovery and flash the zip. Haven't had any problems since.

Also I moved from option 2 to option 3 without doing any wipes at all, believe it or not.

I also then moved from 3 to live papers without a single wipe.

But... going from live papers back to 3 I did get some error messages. I did a dalvik wipe and tried flashing option 3 again and I've been fine ever since.

(I had, stupidly, forgotten to make a nandroid backup before going to live papers).
