Sprint and Nexus One

No need to leave Sprint (& my discounted plan) now! Hopefully we get a release date soon.

Well I just purchased the Hero on the 7th & want to get rid of this pos, hopefully a release date will be given soon on the Nexus One.

I feel your pain man. Ive been waiting for the Hero to get the 2.1 update for the longest & STILL, no update. N1 to Sprint is a Godsend for ppl on Sprint who want Android.

With 4G on Sprint CDMA, should a user theoretically be able to use voice/data simultaneously like the GSM networks have the capability of doing??? The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to decide between the N1 & the 4G Supersonic.

GSM networks can do that sans wi-fi??

I didnt know that. Currently you can do that on Sprint so long as you're connect to wi-fi.

N1 for Sprint Release Date Speculation

There's a similar thread to Verizon customers, thought we deserved one too...

? will definitely be getting one of these through Sprint. With their pricing plans, strong network, and now the N1, what?s there not to like?

Wish they?d hurry up and start selling them.

Palm Pre user here too. I was going to wait on the Supersonic, but I was always jealous of the other networks with the N1. I feel like the N1 will be a much better business phone than the supersonic. Especially due to the size. I like the pre, but i'm ready to move on.

one little factor that I thought I ought to mention is from a sprint customer service chat transcript from a couple days ago. I asked if the N1 would be available to employee referral plans (by that I mean advantage club plans) and the rep said "the [N1] will be available to all customers". Now dont quote me OR sprint on that, but as far as speculations go, that is good news for those of us with sprint employed friends and family.

My plan is to either take the ETF or try and get out of my contract (via complaining about the 5.00 non-autopay fee for accounts on a spending limit) and buy the subsidy version of the N1 if there is one (crosses fingers!) and then have my former roommate who works for sprint invite me over for the advantage club discount plan.

Hypothetical question.....I am currently on AT&T with an iPhone and am wanting to switch to Sprint when the N1 comes out. When I fill out he application on Google's website to port my number, when will my # actually be ported? When I get the phone or instantly. I would hate to be out a phone for a couple days, as this is my only phone (no LAN line).

i ported to sprint a few years back...once i put in for the port, it was done within an hour or so. just don't cancel your att phone account. porting you number will automatically do it for you. that way you att phone will work up until your sprint n1 port is completed

porting is simply done once you agree and sign up for the sprint (or whatever new carrier you're going to) plan.... doing that ports your number and cancels your at&t (or whatever carrier you're leaving) account... if still on contract, enjoy ETF, if no... enjoy the new carrier ;)

I just spoke to a Sprint rep and there was speculation as to whether or not Sprint would activate the CDMA unsubsidized "unlocked" version that is anticipated to drop along with Verizon version plan in the very near future. He said "as long as it's "unlocked" and it is compatible with our network, he said yes we would activate it!" So if you don't want to leave Sprint and want to get it a bit faster than their release, also willing to shell out the retail purchase...you could have it on the Sprint network very, very shortly!

Current Palm Pre user on Sprint. Cannot wait for the N1 to arrive.

I joined this forum because I'm thinking about leaving the pre and moving over to Android. Palm isn't dieing it's dead.... I have no upgrade till December though. Anyone know of a way to get the Nexus One and not get killed by the no contract pricing?

I too am ready bud. I loved the Pre... Stood in line for the Pre, even bought my wife a Pre..... She can stay with the Pre, I'll move on if I can at a decent price. If I don't have an upgrade, anyone have an idea of what I'll end up paying? Does anyone have a place they go to shop and save a few buck on these phones. Seriously, how do these providers think we'll just jump over if they stick us with these F'n contracts and ridiculous prices!?!?

It's the way it works. The phone (N1) really costs $529 retail. When you buy it at contract for less than that, the carrier knows that they are overcharging you, so you are paying the difference a little bit each month. If you cancel your contract early, without paying an early termination fee, they lose money.

Of course, the huge ripoff is that once you are through your contract, they should have unsubsidized pricing - a contract where you bring your own phone, or a cut in price at the termination of the contract to acknowledge that you have fulfilled paying the subsidy.

I will be switching from my Pre on Sprint. I loved the Pre, but all of the fantastic new advances are coming directly from Google and work best on the Android platform. My next upgrade is June 1st and I cannot wait.

I'm wondering about N1 as well, but I need a phone that can be upgraded within my family Everything Data plan. Anyone have a feel for whether the N1 is only sold with an individual plan?
