Sprint GNex 3G data failure

After happily going about my day with my issue resolved, I return home and hop on my wifi. I had to leave to run an errand, only to discover that the issue has returned. I am very irritated. Will talk to sprint tomorrow and hopefully get this squared away.

I'm having the data issues too. Left my house last night, went off the wifi, and had 3g for an hour then lost it and haven't had it since. I called today and they started a ticket and said their engineering department would call me back within 72 hours. Then they called me back a few hours later asking me for more info and also telling me that this is a wide spread issue with the GNex and that they are working with Samsung for a solution and would get back to me soon.

How are the people with their replacements doing? Are you having the issues with them too? I dunno if I should press for a replacement or just wait out their fix. I did just finish getting it all set up how I like it.

I haven't had 3G vanish on the new phone but the signal quality on both 3G and WiFi is bad. I've had a lot of problems with dropped calls in areas where my Epic was able to work. I'm still thinking of returning the phone.

I had this issue, went into the Sprint store... showed them (of course they were baffled), so they traded in my phone for a new one and WHAM! no problems since. I highly recommend you trade it in since it's free and you're still within your 14 day limit.

Had the issue with my first one.. returned today.. still have the issue with my second one? From what I am seeing it appears to be when there is a less the great signal. What ever is happening caused my GN to go from 100-7 in 1.5 hours yesterday. Wife had 3 bars(Epic Touch 4g).. I had none. Phone was also very hot. I also noticed that when I turn wifi off when at home at try to utilize the 3g on my airave airvana, the data connection stops. If I try to run speedtest, then it runs for about 5 seconds then freezes up, and never recovers... Eventually display an error message about a network failure.

It still does it with my 2nd GN too.

Crap. This is the issue I was concerned about and have noticed really weak signals for 3G and my WiFi compared to my EVO 4G and EVO Design. I haven't activated my Nexus, but this isn't encouraging and I think it's going back tomorrow before I activate it.

I really wanted this to be a great phone and a success on Sprint since I am itching to try stock ICS on new hardware.

Sprint said they will release an update soon for it.

As everything I have seen on this subject is dated either April 27th or 28th, I am going to assume that "early next week" is actually early next week (May 6th, 7th, 8th, etc).

I personally have not had any connectivity issues, but if there is an update, I will take it. :D

Mav.

Ok heres my story. Bought one had data issue. Called Sprint they had no idea what was happening. Go to store get a new one... New phone same issue. Call Sprint...still no idea , write up ticket promised to call. They call..but say its a network prolbem and they are working on it.Its been a week now , I have no data but am paying for data. Sprint hasn't even tried to keep me happy while they fix this F#*k up. They're just like "Damn that sucks". Mean while the guy from the verizon store laughs at me with his Nexus on Lte.While I cant even get 3G.

Well sprint is pushing out an update that apparently is fixing and/or addressing that issue.

I guess they are pushing it out in stages.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Anyone receive the update? If so, has it fixed the issue?

Bump.

Did the update fix the connectivity issues? I've been eye balling the Galaxy Nexus for a while, but I'm not upgrading while it has problems.

Hard to tell. My wifi and 3g signals are still low like they were before the update. I think it's going back since I don't have time to deal with potential radio problems. Overall, a great device that isn't ready for prime time yet. Seems to be the usual course with smartphone launches these days.

I got the update last night and it fixed my issues. I'm keeping mine!

I had no issues before the update and I can now say, none after either. My phone was made in Korea, I ordered it AFTER the launch date online from Sprint and have not had any issues with it. I think I'll be definitely keeping it. The S3 looks like just another Samsung hype, so I'll pass and enjoy my pure Android (Google) experience.
