JK lol but thanks for the advice, when 2.1 is able to be rooted I might ask for your help if thats alright of course. I was going to root on 1.5 but thought it was too complicated and didnt want to mess up my phone. But I will give it a try when its rootable.

I use handcent for sms however I cannot get the stock messaging notification turned off so I get double notifications. I was able to do this before the update, but can't get it figured out now. Any help with this?

Sorry to be repetitive, but has anyone else had trouble with facebook syncing after the 2.1 update? If so, have you found a way around it?

Mine was doing the same thing. Go to your contacts and open one that should be linked to Facebook. When you open their profile, you should see a button at the top right corner that says link. You have to click on that button and manually link your contact with their Facebook profile. And it syncs everything!! So if they have a fake number or crazy email address on their account - it will sync with your phone. There are no more birthdays. Also - if you sync your contacts with Facebook - it syncs all of your Facebook friends with contact information to the phone. This sucks. Who the heck thought of that dumb idea?!

You will slowly (over the next couple of days) get all your contacts synced again. Before I couldn't get all of them, but now I do.

are you using stock or a custom rom. if using custom just nandroid restore and do a full wipe. if useing stock do a battery pull hold home vol up and vol down reinsert the battery(still holding said buttons) wait for htc logo release buttons you should see a picture of a phone with a triangle wait 30 seconds pull battery again and wait 15 seconds before inserting battery and booting up your phone. once your booted go to menu---settings---accounts and sync--- and press sync all WAIT for all to resync. shut down phone and then reboot, WHEW alot to do but hopefully that will work i did this on my wife's hero and it good now

Hey KKroeger I have the same issues as you with facebook. I can see my contact information but none of my friends profiles are syncing. Also my bluetooth in my car is no longer working either. I want the old ROM back.

will 2.1 for hero ever be over the air? i see i have to backup contacts and can do that for my wifes phone via gmail. pictures will be ok bc they saved on SD card. i know we lose apps but do i have to remember what i have installed or does android market know that once 2.1 is installed..... any and all help is appreciated.

bluetooth is fine so far....willis, thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work. for now, i downloaded "syncmypix" from the market. it will get me by til they fix this issue, i guess. i'm just hesitant to completely set up my phone only to have to flash it again in a couple days....blah

Since you mentioned bluetooth... With 1.5, the stock music player was the only app that could receive A2DP bluetooth control. You couldn't control any other media player. Is this fixed in 2.1?

Anyone having problems running swipe? Every time I try to scan some barcode the phone reboots. I've uninstalled and re installed it to no avail. Still rebooting. I also have a Best Buy app that scans a bar code also. I'll try and delete that app to see if that may be the problem. I noticed random reboots with the leaked version of 2.1 I installed. But have installed the official version when it became available. Also battery life suck now. May be I'm playing around on it too much?????

Just found how to fix this today

In people, hit 'menu' and select 'view'.....in there you can uncheck 'show auto Gmail contacts'....and also choose other contacts to display or not display

I had the "Show auto Gmail contacts" unchecked. Even with it checked, the alternative contacts you can choose to display and not display are "Phone" and "FaceBook" accounts (and I assume Exchange, if you have that setup) and not Gmail contact groups.

The only "workaround" I have found so far it to display only contacts with numbers in the View option. Hoping this gets fixed in the future...

I have the same problem. I can use the car's controls to dial and hang up, etc... But I cannot hear any of the audio that is coming through from the phone.

It doesn't happen all the time, either. Sometimes it works fine, but the other times I have to switch to handset mode to be able to use my phone. Frustrating.

Took my unrooted hero into Sprint to have them load new Ruu was told my phone had water damage... the phone had never showed signs of ANY sort (no need to lie) so they refused to load it for me. Went home loaded the update from HTC site now I have repeated random restart when I press end key or menu key anyone else having this issue???? by the way I reloaded the ruu already

Mine also has repeated random restarts. This is starting to get ridiculous. And it is still slow as molasses. Up hill. In January. In a driving Blizzard.
