Sprint HTC One - Android 4.3 Update - Discussion Thread

OMG!! I am having the same issue. I did a reset and everything. Here at work I would have max bars and after the update its down to the first bar only. I hope there is a patch coming soon. Here on my job I was getting 25mbs to 30mbs down and now only 5mbs to 7mbs down after the update. Could not make a call this morning until I ran update profile again too.

Thank you for that clarification. I will monitor the ability to connect calls over the next few days and see if there is a difference.

I'm not sure if anyone is having this issue. I did a speedtest on my wifi network after the update and got about 5-6 mbit down. I did the same test on my T-Mo HTC One and got about 20 mbit down. Same server & everything. I ran the test multiple times and got the same result on both. FWIW the actual speed of my internet at home is around 30mbit when done on a computer.

PLEASE HELP,

I have a windows 8- does anyone know where I can find a driver that will recognize my phone when it is plugged in, I am stuck at the "fastboot" screen and cant get it to "fastboot USB"

The HTC driver you used originally SHOULD work with Windows 8.

Make sure you update your Android SDK, specially the platform tools folder to the latest.

This will give you all the latest ADB, fastboot, etc..

In my stock messaging app it doesn't display contact photos like it used to, kind of annoying .

Has anyone else noticed a decline of battery life after the update?

Go to Settings, Wi-fi, and select your SSID of the network you're connected to. Check to make sure that the link speed is the same as on both phones. If the Sprint HTC One settings are different, select the three dots in the top right, select advanced and change your Wi-Fi frequency band from auto to another setting. Experiment around to see which one gets you faster speeds.

Anyone figure out how to edit the quick settings in the notification bar? They are awesome, but the GPS toggle appears to be missing and would be a very welcome addition.

I was thinking the same thing. Does everyone just leave their GPS on at all times. I usually do not because I have noticed in previous phones a decrease in battery life due to it.

Well, I haven't had any issues so far--signal shows lower, but seems to work exactly the same. I had an issue with Rdio giving Media Player errors which now seems fixed.

AND -- MMS messages now send properly! I tested this by attaching a photo (full size), and it showed it as 810 KB / 2 MB. Previously, the first photo you'd attach would shrink to about 35 KB, then the second one would be fine.

As for the camera, well, I read somewhere that HTC plans to push yet another update to fix it. We'll see.

I've noticed that, in chrome, I need to type in the url letter by letter, instead of being able to use the swype-like action with the Sense trace keyboard. The stock web browser (along with the other apps I've tried) seem to work fine.

My battery life has taken a serious hit. I unplugged my phone this morning and the battery dropped from 100 to 98 then 95 within 90 seconds and it has continued to plummet. Reminds me of the original EVO days. I have had it off the charger for 1 hour 47 minutes and it has already dropped 36%. I was using it to listen to music (stock music player) while exercising at the gym, which I do every day and it only drops about 6%, and I have had twenty minutes of screen time.

Also, I made a phone call yesterday while on 3G but went into a strong 4G signal area and even though SignalCheck Pro showed I had a good LTE signal my phone would not connect to it so I could not do anything data related on my phone. My phone never had an issue before connecting to 4G/LTE if the signal was available and I was on the phone. My phone is also roaming more now at work than previous and even when I'm connected to Sprint with a very weak signal many phone calls are going to straight to voicemail. It happens about 33% of the time on my tests using my work phone to call my mobile. Previously it was extremely rare to go to straight to voicemail when I called my phone for tests.

There are some great features with 4.3 but this update has really made me not like this phone/Sprint overall. Thankfully I have a second phone with another provider I can use which is reliable.
