Sprint HTC One - Android 4.3 Update - Discussion Thread

I did a factory reset which addressed my excessive battery draining issues and overheating problem. However, even after a reset I constantly receive open wifi connection notifications even though I have the option disabled/unchecked. It is minor but annoys me. Thankfully I have not experienced any issues with wifi disconnecting randomly. My wifi connection appears to be the same as it was before the update.

So I don't know if it's just me but the contact images in my stock sms app keep disappearing is that like a bug or something am I the only one this is happening to???

You aren't alone in this I am seeing the same thing. The pictures are there in my contact list but will not show up in my sms.

Absolutely, just finished the update and my cell signal strength has gone from max, to one bar. I am in an office environment that uses a Sprint Airwave, because we are in a cellular hole here. Not sure what this means yet!

Make a call and then look at it while in car. It will go-to full bars.

Signal representation is based on data signal strength now, not voice like it was in the past. Most seem to agree quality of signal hasn't changed, but the visual change keeps confusing people.

I did both updates, but none of those would have anything to do with wifi connectivity.
I contacted HTC, and I'll wait to see what they have to say.

After contacting HTC, they gave me some troubleshooting guide to see if my wifi issue could be fix. Long story short, it's not fixed.
After doing some more research, it looks like Android 4.3 in general is having wifi issues (authentication, connecting, searching, etc)... as seen on numerous reports on different devices including N4, Samsung Note 3 and HTC One (google play) and recently Sprint to name a few.
It looks like Google will have to fix this issue and work with manufacturers to get this resolved.
I expect an MR update from HTC in the near future......

I noticed my when going over the icons for pattern lock, they vibrate as I draw the pattern. Anyway to turn that off?

I would agree. Loss of signal:( since upgrade!!!

The signal reaching your phone is the exact same....the bars just aren't displaying it the same way that they were before.
I keep signal check pro running so i can see the exact dBm of the signal. My bars are definitely lower but the actual signal strength is still the same.

**** I just realized that every time I try to open the general settings my SMS app crashes smh who the hell tested this build? And what were they smoking

signal bars now reflect your data connection and not voice like before.

try clearing cache on the Messaging app. Worst case you may have to do a factory reset

Same here, I'm just outside New Orleans. Went from full bars to one.

Again, this is representing data signal connection now and not voice signal like it was before the update.

Either way, were on Sprint so even a great signal is a not so great signal. :)

I haven't updated my HTC ONE yet and I'm kinda scared now. I'm not as technically inclined as most of you. (Though I've figured out that the signal hasn't changed, just the bars, geez.)

I just updated my htc one ( on sprint) and now , I have a weaker 4G signal; it only allows me one bar ( 2 at the most). Before I use to receive full 4G service.

And now i have a N icon on my status bar as well.
Thoughts?:mad::confused:
