Sprint HTC One - Android 4.3 Update - Discussion Thread

Auto Sleep/Screen Time Out Problem

Every since the 4.3 update, my phone has not been able to turn off the screen when not in use automatically. I have changed the timing from 2 mins to 15 seconds and nothing. Factory reset is my last resort, but wanted to check in with the group on this.

Well I haven't posted here in quite a long time but feel I need to now for the issue that I have with this update.
I downloaded the new update yesterday on 4g easy and smooth. Installed the software and my phone came back on like it always does. I run nova and have several icon packs etc. I was really excited and exploring the updates. A few hours later I decided to update my profile and PRL...I have done this many many times I have had every EVO and now have the HTC One. Once performing the profile update I received a notification that the phone needed to reset. I have never seen this before but just assumed it was needed and no issues were to be worried about. Once my phone came back on it had been wiped of everything! I am not at home and have so many passwords that this caused a huge issue. Not only that but a dangerous situation. I was baby sitting, this wipe once restarted would not let me use my phone or call anyone except 911. I lost some pictures and a whole day of set up of ny apps and launchers. I do have a hard copy of most of my stuff but this was and is extremely upsetting. Long story short I was robbed of an entire night and day of work because of a forced factory reset.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Re: Auto Sleep/Screen Time Out Problem

Screw it. Factory reset my phone and now the screen finally was able to turn off on its own. I am also having battery issues. I wondering if there is something running in the background that is causing the screen to stay on and/or running the battery life to the ground. I'll check at end of day and provide my findings.

I updated my PRL and only was prompted to reboot. Rebooted and all was fine.

Check the Google location services. Seems like the 4.3 update turned everything on and its killing the battery. Check your Google sync options too, lots of stuff being polled/sync here too.

Worst case, factory reset. But check out Helium app from the Play Store. Works great to backup and restore apps and data. Rooting not required.

Was this release supposed to address the camera issues with the HTC One in low light settings? I have found with 4.3 the red and purple hues I get are even worse...

I never had a problem with the purple issue, only after the new updates. Also I noticed the flash set to automatic doesn't really like to go off. Have to set the flash for manual.

Paul

BTW I installed the camera app called Camera MX and it only has a minor problem with the purple deal. doesn't really flash on auto either.
I think I need to try out another camera app. This was installed as a quickie test.

Is anyone elses wifi completely broken? I posted a thread about this in the 4.3 section, and the only reply was "try mailing it to HTC" which im not about to do.
It worked earlier, so it must work ok when its freshly turned on, then short out over time. Great.

Even though my notification sound has been separated from ringer volume it still is the same no matter how I set it

Haven't had any WiFi problems. Hate to say it but have you done a factory reset?

Grab Helium from the Play Store, backup your apps/data and then you can restore it afterwards. Makes it a lot less painful :D

I am having wifi issues where it connects, but it will disconnect and reconnect at random.
I also saw a demo unit at a store that had 4.3, and I saw the same issues where the wifi will keep connecting and disconnecting.... It may be something with the update.
I did perform a factory reset, but same thing happens.

:'(

Did you update PRL and profile after update? I was home all day yesterday and mine never disconnected from wifi, and playing Ingress along the CT coast where I have crappy signal, I connect to a few different public wifi spots (restaurants, library and such) and I've not had a problem with WIFI at all

I did both updates, but none of those would have anything to do with wifi connectivity.
I contacted HTC, and I'll wait to see what they have to say.

I haven't had any issues with this update, but I can 2nd how much less painful a factory reset is with the availability of Helium. As someone who hasn't and don't really want to root my fun this app has made factory resets and transferring to new phones much easier.

Shouldn't you be able to access Facebook after tapping on an item in BlinkFeed? I'm not able to, but it works with the Instagram and Twitter feeds...just wondering...

I noticed this with a Facebook update several updates ago. This predates 4.3.

I'm running the Facebook beta, and I had one Facebook update that fixed this problem, and then another one that broke it again. I think we need to wait for Facebook.
