Sprint HTC One: KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

Is there any change in the sound quality, or volume of the speakers for those whom have the update installed??

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I really enjoy the editing of the quick settings found in the drop down menu. I'm not sure if this was an option before, but I never found it previous to getting KitKat.

Yes this is a welcomed feature. No it wasn't in any previous releases of Android.

Same as far as I can tell. Why was there a need for improvement?

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but i just found another subtle change:

When you press on the bottom hamburger menu dots (or anywhere on that black bar), the area around the dots lightens to grey (I'm assuming for some visual feedback).

Wasn't the upgrade supposed to eliminate the black menu buttons at the bottom?

Settings/Display,gestures & buttons/Home
Two options
1. Swipe up or press and hold for Google Now
2. Swipe up for Google Now ,press and hold for menu
This what you're looking for?

What happened to the "Lockscreen Style"? Used to be under "Settings/Personalize" but now that option is gone and when i hit "Customize Home Screen" it takes me back to a home screen with no options to customize. Am I missing something...besides the Lockscreen Style button?

I was hoping for a db or two increase. Still the best phone speakers.

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

I've had this for about a day. So far...
Pros:
- (Altered) Emojis are available in the stock messaging app.
- The UI is a lot smoother.
- The option to see battery percentage is available
- You can turn off the blinkfeed!

Cons:
- My battery life is absolutely AWFUL.
- WiFi comes on by itself, even when it's turned off.
- The lock screen is stuck and cannot be removed even when selected to do so.
- The music player UI has changed so that you cannot swipe the album art to change songs. Instead it goes to the visualizer.
- Did I mention how awful my battery life is?

I hope Sprint fixes this by the 11th...

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

So far everything about the KitKat update has been excellent. I haven't experienced any lock screen issues since I am using Cover which changes my lock screen depending where I am (home, work, car, out,..etc.). But one HUGE thing I noticed today which I am extremely upset with is that when I plugged my 1/8th cable from the headphone jack to my car, the sound was coming mostly out of the right side I tried everything, unplugging/re-plugging it in, different mp3s and artists. I tried the headphones and it sounds normal. Anyone else experience this? This was not ever an issue prior to getting the KitKat update. I am using an HTC One on Telus.

Did you do a factory reset? Most common fix after a major OS update.
- WiFi comes on by itself, even when it's turned off.
Do you have the connection optimizer enabled? I think that could be causing this, because it determines and uses the best connection available to you at that time.

I use swift key keyboard and emojis dont work at all...They just show as if you typed them, like this :-) ...HJ

Will a factory reset erase everything? How do I do that?

And how do I turn the connection optimizer off?

Re: Sprint HTC One : KitKat 4.4.2 Update Thread.

Calendar sync is crashing and no longer working for me since the update.

Yes a factory reset will wipe your data & settings on the device. It won't touch your pictures, videos, etc but I would still back those up to be safe.

Go to Settings>Back up and Reset>

Make sure you have the following checked in the screenshot below so at least some of your stuff will get restored.

Connection Optimizer

Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Data>Automatic Connections> ENABLE/DISABLE from there.

Would you advise I do this after the 11th? I don't want to reset it if Sprint offers a debugged version of the update then.
