Maybe I am not asking this in the right area...Can anyone help me with this issue. All my friends have iphones..

I have a HTC One through Sprint. We have all downloaded the Emoji Keyboard to have symbols when texting. Everything works fine on their phones. My phone only views the symbols in Black & White both with incoming and outgoing. All color with iphones. Driving me crazy...

I just side loaded the apk for flash and I still get the Little blue box showing that flash isn't working. I unchecked and rechecked the box and the same behavior. Hmm, more research to do.

I use swift key keyboard and emojis dont work at all...They just show as if you typed them, like this :-) ...HJ

I am seeing this issue with the Google Keyboard and the HTC Sense Keyboard. All of my old texts also don't translate the smileys into graphical format. I know that emoji are baked into the OS now but smileys don't seem to work in stock Messages app or in Hangouts. I see that they can be enabled in 8SMS and I imagine other apps. Anyone else noticing this?

yea. same here... the removal of lockscreen options and flash capabilities is making me regret updating. hopefully we find an answer to this one

I also tried it from this screen. Maybe its because I sync email with my Company's Exchange server and its a security issue?

Actually, you can swype left from anywhere on the right hand edge of the screen - well, above the clock and the "weather unavailable" that I can't seem to get rid of.

Mine's saying the same thing. "Weather not available". It was doing that before the update as well. Anyone know why or the fix to this?

Although, since my update, I've noticed the battery life isn't as good.

Hey Kim, in not sure how you proceeded after your reset. A lot of times the apps we have and use can become a bit dysfunctional after a major system update. Even though you may be using the same apps in the same fashion you may have one that is not optimized for KitKat.

Personally if I'm having issues I first clear system cache. If a full reset is still needed I only add my apps back a couple at a time and monitor performance after said additions.

Tracking down the culprit can be a slow tedious process but well worth it if you fix your issue

I'm wondering if you could elaborate on how to clear system cache. I only know how to do it with certain individual apps :/

i think that is what he meant. you can't clear the "system" cache unless you are rooted (or reset the phone). you can clear system apps cache though.

try disabling the "auto-detect location" in your weather app's settings and re-enabling it. it should force a refresh.

failing that find the weather app in your phone's app settings and clear its data as you know.

Interestingly enough, I found the answer to this problem when I looked at fixing a different issue I was having. My stock mail app wasn't refreshing automatically and showing my incoming mail. I followed a step by step instruction post on signing out, re-signing in and syncing everything and tada! My mail started working and my weather started showing again. Magic.

Re: The 4.4.2 Kit Kat update is available for the HTC One on Sprint

Long time reader, first time member. Thanks for everything everyone. After my update to 4.4.2 I noticed a lot of bugs in the messaging app. I use swift key, contacted them and they suggested I download their new beta app to use the emoji icons. One issue w/this, it cuts the message down to 70 characters. Also, when backing out from a text (I don't just hit the home key) it's like I'm backing out from each and every message. I also don't like the fact that I cannot have a separate pic for my lock screen. I haven't really noticed to many other issues. One long running issue is clearing my browser history. Seems like every time I go to Search, the same searches are still there. I constantly clear history and the webpages using the feature in the search. I also use Android Assistant to clear cookies/cache files. Hopefully these bugs are fixed soon.
