Sprint HTC One - No LTE?!?!

With any new sprint phone sometimes you need to reupdate the prl and profile to get lte service. I see this a lot at work. Kinda quirky but that solves the issue a lot of the time.

I'm having an issue too. Finally got my plan worked out, (diddn't have an lte plan), worked in the store the other day, now I can't get lte again after I rebooted. However, if I do *#*#4636#*#* and change preferred network mode to lte, I get a connection instantly. Only problem is that setting is reverting after reboot for me.

Just to clarify - without doing this change I am getting "4g" indicators but not "4g lte". Speed tests go from 4 or 5 down to around 15 so I know its just not in my head.

/edit2/ also this is for at&t.

I am pretty sure that the HTC One just lists it as 4G, not 4G LTE (they are the same thing, since we are not talking about WiMax). In my area I grabbed over 30 megs on 4G. My network mode is LTE/CDMA. Update PRL, profile, etc.

My network is set to lte/cdma mode. I've toggled it on and off the see if that was the issue, but no luck.
When I realized the 4G wasn't working, the first thing I did was update the profile and prl. Again, no luck.
I called sprint just cuz but they were limited help because I'm not in an official lte area.
They did suggest I go to a store to have the hardware tested, which I'll do on Wednesday

Sprint LTE is still new and they are expanding their new LTE network. To my knowledge and I may be wrong so if I am please correct me their service before wasn't technically LTE. 4G maybe but not LTE. Again, I was a Verizon customer, now AT&T so I am not sure but the HTC One does have 4G LTE built in, I was connected to it last night while out at dinner. Granted different carrier but still has the ability non the less.

I came from full 4G LTE strength on Verizon to AT&T where I get 4G from HSPA+. So I feel your pain. Just hang in there, they are all expanding pretty quick to keep up with the new speeds that everyone wants.

Correct.. Sprint used what was called WIMAX which was the CDMA version.
LTE is GSM which all major carriers are going to

ATT, VZW, TMOB all use 100% LTE where sprint tried WiMax before LTE. The WiMax company went broke sprint bought a major claim into it.. But now is going LTE which is better..

Att and tmob which is pure GSM use what's called HSPA for their 3g, HSPA+ FOR THEIR FAUXG (4G) then LTE FOR THEIR 4GLTE which is true 4G..

The nexus you had prob used the CDMA variant of 4G which is WIMAX.

Sprint has not officially launched LTE in the Virginia/DC area. I have been getting LTE since I first turned the ONE on. The other day I was in an area of Virginia that Sprint says doesn't have LTE yet but I was getting it so I ran a speed test while sitting in my car at a red light.

Also interesting enough I never picked up LTE with my EVO LTE in the year I had it here.

EVO uses Wimax, One uses Lte, Wimax is getting phased out fortunately, Lte is gradually replacing Wimax

Sprint's Galaxy Nexus is an LTE only device, not WiMAX.

^^^
The galaxy nexus is lte. It's either a hardware issue with my device or for some odd reason, sprint has stopped their lte testing in my area. Nevertheless, I'll get my answer tomorrow at the local sprint store.

No sprint phones show 4g lte on the notification bar. Just 4g

Update: so u never made it to the sprint store to check the hardware. However, I did go up to the fourth floor of one of my buildings today and viola, 4G.
I think I'll chalk this up to my old Nexus just picking up 4G better than my current device. My HTC one gets better wifi though, so I guess they are even

I think I read somewhere that sprint will complete their lte network and then upgrade to a different lte band. I was pretty sure it mentioned that the first gen lte sprint phones would not work on their new lte network. Phones like the s3, viper, and evo lte. It also may have mentioned that the lte phones released in 2012 would be on a different band than the 2013 phones.

No not true bro. Sprint will always keep 1900. They are just adding 800 and 2500 to supplement the 1900 and penetrate buildings and stay up in ballparks ect. If u can still use wimax thru 2014 what made u think u couldn't use a evo lte or Gnex.

Does the sim card matter when using LTE? Cuz I'm in a LTE area but it doesn't show...
Ps- the sim card I'm using is from a 4G phone I got over a year ago..

In a CDMA phone yes it does because that controls lte.

I miss the WiMax. In my area, I use to get up to 12mbp, but on average 8mbp. On 4G LTE, in my area, I get 1.2mbp or less. If I didn't have WiFi at home, my phone would have been unusable.

In the "Preferred Network Mode" popup, should I just use "Automatic", as I do not have LTE in this area as of yet? Should I select CDMA or GSM/UMTS only? The 3G here is dog slow.

Lte works on my phone has worked since I got the phone; but saying that I have notice That my one seems to have a slightly weaker radio but that could all be down to the tuning of the radio. I'm not going to stress about it because this phone still performs better than the LG optimus g which never wanted to pick up 4g unless I toggled airplane mode on and off

Is LTE launched in your area? If not.. Then you can't expect the best LTE speeds yet :).
