Sprint LG G4 Marshmallow incoming

I cleared Google services framework and after about 8 times it notified me if an update, aka marshmallow...

Thanks irkorn18....It worked the first time for me.... :) Cleared Google Services Framework Data and Cache. Restarted the phone. Went in to Update LG Software...and it found it. FINALLY......and....as usual...it more or less had to be forced...rather than showing up on its own. (this happened one other time too....I think on my G2).

For those who have never played this waiting game before or have never heard of the clear Google Framework Services trick, please be advised this is not recommended. It can screw things up with your phone. Some report no ill affects, others report a lot. Here's the article from Google on this topic:

My phone erased my sandisk 64GB sd card and the Sprint store said my card was bad even though it works in my computer and other phones.

Thanks for the heads up about the SD card. I've got a 64GB SanDisk, too. I'm going to back it up on my laptop tonight since I still haven't received the OTA update on my LS991.

correct. plus, the OTA is available for dl... no need to wait or play games if you want it

Thank you Mikey47, I haven't ever ran into those issues but I should have advised that it could possible mess things up, my bad.

Hopefully everything works for you with your sd card thebutler93, let me know if you run into issues. I submitted rma to sandisk so hopefully that goes well.

I backed up my pics into my 64gb SD card then removed it f from the phone before I updated. I cleared the system cache and I have haven't had really any issues with M. The first day my phone ran a little warmer than Normal but has since calmed down. The phone also seems a bit quicker when pulling up apps. The battery life seems to be about the same. I am in the Orlando area and my reception has been consistent before and after the update.

Taking only my G4 and my Re-camera into the Parks.

21:45 PST - I just got the update a minute ago. I got too excited and hit the install button when I realized I didn't take out my SD card or back it up.

21:50 PST - I decided that since the update is working on the internal storage, I'd take a chance and pop out the SD card. Looks like everything is still there. I'll make a backup while the update finishes.

22:25 PST - I successfully backed up the SD card and reinstalled it after the MM update was complete. Everything seems to be working just fine.

23:14 PST - After playing around a bit, I've already found some improvements that I like.

  • Pinning apps
  • Integrated voice interaction
  • Miracast quick setting
  • Simplified volume controls (managable notification, music, alarm volumes anywhere)
  • Flex storage
  • Lower RAM usage (1.8GB vs 2.5GB)
  • Built in VPN app support
One negative I have so far is that I'm now having trouble moving installed apps to my SD card. I'm being told that there's not enough space when I have 54GB free.

I have NO reported issues since loading Marshmallow. (by clearing Google Services) The only quirk was getting my contacts to load. After about a half hour....all was well.

Did the update on Sprint. Now I'm receiving a no sim card error and the home button don't work

Good to hear you finally got it!

I've been noticing that a few of my apps crash frequently. I'd imagine the developers have to update them in support of MM.

I ran Clean Master and it cleared each specific app's cache. I'm not seeing crashes any more.

Other than the apps crashing, how is your performance? I would, but that's me. You may can find another workaround. The moment my phone starts acting up (apps crashing, to much jank in the software) I back up with LG backup and reset.

Performance the phone is great, haven't had issues with that since buying the phone and I've had this before it was even in stores. I wiped the app caches yesterday and i dont think anything has crashed since but if it does ill back up and do factory reset next. Thanks
