Yes, I'm using a stock EVO, went to the link provided in an earlier post and downloaded it. Used it some today and it works great. Much faster than before.

Updated it on Friday while I was at work... I use it for the traffic function because it seems to get more up-to-date traffic info than my Garmin, and didn't want to update it while driving.

So I haven't tried it yet while having to deal with traffic, so I don't know if that part has changed at all.

Changes that I did notice:
  • Volume. Sprint Navigation used to always reset the volume to 50% when route guidance started, which was annoying, since I always had to turn it back up. So this is a welcome change.
  • It starts up faster than before.
  • Upon choosing a destination, a selection of alternate routes are given. While I can appreciate their effort to give us more choice, if I've already set the app to give me the fastest route in navigation, I don't really want to see those alternate route each time. Just give me the fastest route and let me be on my way.

Much, much faster to load than before the update. Seems to link to GPS much faster too.

It's loading faster because the app is sitting in memory. When the phone is started the Telenav app loads automatically. I don't know that I want it always loaded in memory. I don't use it that often. I think I will uninstall the update. Besides Google Navigation is just as good.

I'm pretty sure it was sitting in the memory before the update, anyway. I definitely remember seeing both Sprint Navigation and several instances of Google Maps listed as running in the background in Watchtower.

Nope once I uninstalled Telenav updates, I rebooted and looked to see if Sprint Navigation started up automatically, and it does not... I am using Process Monitor to check what programs are currently loaded.

I have version 2.8, is this wrong?

It's not wrong, but it's not the latest if that's what you mean. If you go to my posts on page 2, 3, or 4, I give the link to download, just put it in the browser of your EVO and you can download it from there. You can also download it to a computer and transfer it to your microSD to install from there if you don't want to spend the time downloading it on your phone.

I liked it a lot at first but tried using it the other day with Pandora in the background. Navigation in general seems not to be happy when you are doing something in the background for whatever reason. That and if you tried to pan at all while it was navigating it would lag hard.

The Best update I've seen from Sprint so far.

This is not a Sprint update, reason we downloaded this straight from the Telenav site. Sprint had nothing to do with this update. They do advertise it, but so does every carrier that used a Telenav navigation app. Including AT&T and Sprint... Basically Telenav didn't want to be re-badged anymore, and wanted their name.

Ok, so this is my question from before still. What if I don't want to manually install this... is it ever going to be pushed to the phone? Reason for not wanting to manually install it is I like being notified that there is an available update... I hate having to go looking for it on things like this that I don't use much.

No this update will not be automatically pushed to the device. Just like you have the option to install HTC and Sprints updates. You do not have to.

I removed the update from my phone. It is too big and only installs to the internal memory! Argh. I still use Google Nav and it seems to work best for me. It still irks me that there are some big programs that still will not move to the SD card.

Hi everyone,

My name is Kenji and I'm with TeleNav. If you have any questions about the update, I'd be happy to answer them. :)
