Sprint NOTE 3 Cracking audio & Sprint's Response

I wonder if there is a certain batch that this is a problem with. There are multiple reviews on amazon complaining of this problem but when you look at the reviews on Best Buy not a single one has this problem. Only a couple out of 30 reviews on Sprints website. Maybe Amazon got a bad batch? Anybody with the problem want to tell us where you got yours? Maybe we can find a pattern. Could be useful to those of us still waiting to get ours.

I've made/received a few calls with my Sprint Note 3, using the Gear, and I've not heard anything unusual with my Best Buy purchases. Unfortunately the day after purchase, I went to a cell dead zone for a week of electronic/internet free relaxation..

Sprint Care finally responded to me on Twitter:

@sprintcare: Thx for posting. We're aware of the issue affecting a minimal amount of these phones; we will address the issue accordingly.-CJG

I asked if there's any solution on the way. And basically that I would not upgrade without a solution in place. I doubt if I'll get a good answer, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

In reference to all of the bad reviews on Amazon, I'm pretty sure nobody has actually taken delivery of a Sprint Note 3 from Amazon.

I originally ordered my Note 3 from Amazon on launch day, the site said they were "temporarily out of stock" (frankly, I don't think they were ever in stock) . A couple of days later I got a notice saying my Note 3 would be shipped sometime between Oct 30 - Nov 7, so I cancelled my order and went to Best Buy and bought it.

My calls have been perfect.

Not making anything up here... Starting to sound like Nasioc off topic forum with that comment. Jk.

It just seems like some angry person making up crap. My calls have been perfect.

Yeah, I started this thread because I was angry...

Angry about what? Obviously something went awry since I posted here, and then had multiple people back up what I posted.

Check XDA, check the Sprint forums, just because something didn't happen to you doesn't mean it isn't real.

I'm sorry, I removed that comment. I posted before i read the entire thread. I thought maybe it was just an "Amazon" thing.

My post was in reference to the almost unanomously bad reviews on Amazon, vs the mostly glowing reviews every where else.

Once again, I didn't mean to offend anyone here. From now on, I'll read the whole thread before I jump in.

Received this from Sprint Social Care.

"At this time, we do not know what is causing the issue. However, I am pretty certain that it is an isolated issue to this phone only. If you were to exchange to a different device, you should not be experiencing these issues. What we are trying to find out at this point is, is it a software clash with Sprint that Samsung was not aware of, or if it's an actual hardware issue that Samsung may have to recall. I apologize about the inconvenience. Please know we are working very hard on finding a fix."

So the good thing, is they're acknowledging it. The bad thing is, they still have no idea why it's happening. I'd like to know what happens if it is a hardware issue. The S2 GPS or LOS issues could be categorized has hardware issues, and it was never recalled.

I also think Sprint is going about this the wrong way. They should have an official announcement or press release telling us whats going on and what they're doing to resolve it.
Part of me thinks that Sprint is trying to avoid liability if this were to be a huge problem by never actually 'publicly' acknowledging it and hoping they can issue a fix.

According to chats on Twitter:

Sprint is saying it's a problem only effecting a small amount of users. And they are working on the issue.

Samsung is saying that there's no reported issues. I've asked them about the posts on various forums and they are forwarding it to management.

I went through this crap on my Moment, which no one would admit that there was a issue publicly.

Seeing how only certain phones are affected, I doubt it's something that can be fixed with a software update, after all, we should all be running the same software right now. I bought my phone at best buy and in don't have any crackling issues. I did receive a software update from sprint the same day I got the phone so maybe that addressed the crackling? The description of the update was basically bug fixes and performance improvements. Did everyone else get this update you, especially you guys that have the crackling problem?

Not to be argumentative, but this isn't necessarily true. If you do some research similar issues have happened with a number of different phones over the years, including the same device on different carriers. The most recent being the poor picture quality with the Moto X camera. T Mobile recently pushed out a software patch which made a significant improvement. (I'm pretty sure it was T-Mobile, but correct me if I'm wrong)
Also, if you've ever rooted your phone, you'd know flashing different kernels can significantly improve signal quality.
Point being, this could very well be addressed via a software patch.

My Verizon phone had really bad audio first 2 calls, then perfect. No update necessary.

If they are willing to exchange why not just do that instead of waiting for an update since other people do not have the problem with their phone.

I definitely have this problem. I don't make a lot of calls but when I do I can't understand them. I thought was going to have to take it back for battery issue but then that went away. I only have till Friday if I am going to take it back so I need to decided soon.

Good point Manny. However, if you've already spent a few hours setting up your device, it may be worth waiting for the update, as opposed to setting everything up again. Suppose it depends on how long Sprint takes to push out the update.
