Sprint reducing coverage

Yeah the market is notoriously flaky. Clearing the Android Market app data & updates (not your other app updates...just the market itself) usually gets it working again.

This is probably why they sent that weird PRL update the other day.

PRL update? About the coverage?

And yes, I know Android Market is flaky. But that doesn't explain why my browsers have been slow to pull up my sites when they never used to do that.

If the PRL told your phone not to talk to certain towers in your area anymore, then yes your browsers would go slow. Your PRL determines everything about your signal. Only thing it doesn't mess with is your WiFi signal.

I never really use wifi since my signal strength was perfect. Well it used to be but I'm not so sure now.

I have a crapy signal around my house. In addition to that I do not have good signal where I work either. I used to have 3g very slow. Now I have only 1x. Well I bought Roam control and I have been using it for a while 24/7. I do not have any drop so far and data conection is better than sprint's. I believe I will be looking for a better provider this situation is outragerous!!!

Well I called CC last night. My wife has been complaining about her service on the samsung moment. Her prl is 01115 so I called up asking about it and was told that was the correct prl. I told him it sounded like an old prl and come to find out it is...... So my question is this. My epic is still on prl 60676, will my coverage change too? I'm in ohio btw.

Sprint use to be pretty good in and around my house.....now I am in the same boat. If I have service.....it's 1x.
I've been calling Sprint and complaining....so much that they have replaced my phone....supposedly sent engineers to the towers...etc. Today they have agreed to let me port my number without ETFs.
I think they have a series problem across the country and they know it. I don't know what is going on really....but it really results in the worst cellular service.

If the 01115 PRL version that every Sprint phone is supposed to have...then yes you will notice a degradation in service. Being on a old PRL prevents your phone from talking with authorized towers. Sadly you should keep your PRL up to date so you can get as good of a signal as you can.

This needs to be front page news. Im currently shopping phones for my brother and his new wife. Im seriously thinking of getting a VZW family plan for the three of us and bailing on Sprint. I travel a tone through the southeast, and the service has been horrible.

I would give Sprint a chance to fix things, if only they would fess up and admit that something is wrong.

I highly doubt Sprint is ever going to come straight out and say they have screwed their customers. All I know that after 8 years of being a very loyal customer, I'm tired of this sub par network. I actually thought Sprint was turning it around for themselves, but looks like they have already ran out of steam. Anyone think they will lower the price of service because of this.....heck no they won't. Not to mention the next time any of us upgrade to our next smartphone...whatever that may be....its gonna cost you and extra $20 a month for a 4G one on Sprint with the unlimited everything plan. Bring the price all the way up to $90 a month. You might as well be on Verizon for that kind of price. :-(

I am not upgrading after this bs. I mean Sprint advertised nationwide coverage, but clearly now this is not the case. And the people who keep defending this company need to realize that Sprint is not improving. They are getting worse and worse.

If you get great service where you live and dont travel, why does it matter that they have nation wide coverage? Honestley! I would not go with a carrier because it sucks where i live, but oh wait, they have nationwide coverage. Whatever, it doesnt matter for me. Sprints got the best coverage where i live, yes even over verizon. And they are also the cheapest for me for what i use.

i'm not trying to be mean or personally attack someone, but do you realize how stupid that sounds? if i am paying for a service that "advertises" nationwide coverage, then I prefer to have nationwide coverage. it'd suck if I am out in a secluded area and I can't depend on my GPS in my phone because the ****ing coverage doesn't work in that area.

Quit justifying the reduction in Sprint's coverage area. This is serious news man.

And where am i trying to justify them? All i am asking is if you are not one to travel and the coverage is good, why should i care if its nationqide coverage? It is not that big a deal for some of us. Like me, i dont care about it. I have only gone outside of illinois a small handful of times and still had great coverage when i did.

The Nile flows well in Egypt, buddy. Too bad you're not the only one who has a cellphone on Sprint. Sprint's coverage area has reduced dramatically and that is a big problem whether you want to admit it or not. I'm not trying to be mean or insult, but you're really being ignorant here.

Again, I am not trying to attack anyone.

You can say youre not trying to attack anyone all you want, it doesnt change the fact that you have been in this thread. As a sprint customer i can relate to your frustration, just because someone isnt taking this as serious as you because it isnt affecting them does not make them ignorant or stupid.

Difference of opinion is welcomed in these forums, id suggest you remember that.

If you know me, you'd know i dont like to baby sit or toss out infractions a lot on these forums, we're all old enough around here as it is, lets act like it.

PS: If you want this to make the front page and get some publicity, that is what the "News Tip" button is for next to the thanks button. Click away guys ;)

And just how exactly am i being ignorant? How i ask you? I understand the reduction in coverage, all i habe ever been stating is that i am not effected by it and same with alot of other customers.

My point in this matter is i dont care about the nation wide coverage. Att has nation wide coverage, and same with verizon, but where i live they suck. Im not going to go with them as a carrier because they can get signal in new york and not where i live.

I ask again, how does that make me ignorant?

Sorry igots. Didn't mean to go on the offensive.

So this is technically a breach of contract is it not? Sprint's not holding up their end of the bargain coveragewise.

Did I say you have to? No. Like I said before, you're not the only guy with a phone on Sprint and some of us do traveling quite frequently. If I paid for nationwide coverage from the ads, then I expect nationwide coverage.

Are you seeing the affects of this roaming agreement loss for us here in San Diego county? If you drive east of the 8 and go past Lakeside coverage pretty much drops out completely. I've been on the phone a few times with Sprint and this roaming loss has a much bigger affect on San Diego than you would think considering it is such a large metro area. I'm not a happy camper right now, I go camping and offroading 2 or 3 times a month out in that area and I'm pretyt much SOL when it comes to signal in the past few weeks.
