Sprint Epic 4G Touch will receive Android Jelly Bean update today

I'm taking there is a reason they didn't put a time on available. The website for Samsung isn't available and Kies says I'm on the latest version.

I'm more than happy to just get 4.1, but now we are 2 versions back when IO hits in May. Still not bad for a 2 year old device.

If anyone else has luck, please share.

Is this dropping on the Virgin SII as well?

Even though VMUSA is a subsidiary of Sprint, it's still a separate decision for that group. Because this is not an OTA and will involve a lot of both in store and phone support/training, VMUSA may decide it's not worth the expense and headache.

If you just want to install it you can grab it by searching rwilco GB27. He's had it available for a little over a week. All the usual disclaimers apply.

If you just want to install it you can grab it by searching rwilco GB27.

No need to search I have the link. Plus you can get a rooted version which I feel is necessary to run a lot of important programs like Titanium and Roam Control.

It is about time they officially show that phone so love. Glad to know its official release. rwilco and that team does wonders when it comes firmware .

For those who feel daring you can install some tweaks for GB27 (must be rooted) here.

You can get:
  • Silent Camera
  • Bloatware Removal
  • Battery Saver (see below)
GB27KOB_TWv4.33A. - Aggressive mode (most battery savings, Max CPU 1.0Ghz)
GB27KOB_TWv4.33M. - Moderate mode (Max CPU 1.0Ghz)
GB27KOB_TWv4.33F. - Fast (Max CPU 1.2Ghz)
GB27KOB_TWv4.33SF. - Super Fast (Max CPU 1.2Ghz)

There's other things as well...

A few questions:

1.Is a factory reset necessary? If so, should it be done before or after the update?

2. Does it delete any data off the phone?

I am sitting in a chem lecture right now. I have Kies installed on my computer, so when I get back to my dorm I will try to update.
