Sprint Samsung Epic 4g Official Froyo EC05 [update.zip method/Custom Odin Packages]

I'm half tempted to journey back over to the Fascinate threads and gather my fellow owners to come over here and cheer you guys on. You at least have an official message from your provider, and shoot dang, an update might just come along with it!!! Wooohooooo for you guys!

This is nuts! I'm testing the Galaxy Tab for work and it got the prompt for an update just minutes after getting the Sprint ID text message! This was about an hour ago.

I got the Sprint ID text message yesterday, but I haven't been prompted for an update!! :-(

Sent from my Epic 4G using Tapatalk

Haha!! I just got the text msg from Sprint about Sprint ID! They know we are all watching, waiting, anticipating!!!

We ARE too! Everyone in this thread is logged in right now!! They have us and they are just letting us know that they know it... Haha!! Maybe they will give us better treatment after AT&T eats up T-Mobile...

Could you imagine if they sent out another text that said..."juuuust a little bit longer....."

Incase anyone cares, that message is not anything special. Yes I know its about the Sprint ID but I am rooted running a custom ROM so if I received it then everyone is getting it and doesn't mean that your update is coming anytime soon.. Hate to burst your bubble just wanted to let you know even the rooted w/custom ROM users who won't be eligible for the OTA update are receiving the same message.

Noob thoughts

I think it would be nice to have a separate thread JUST for people to post that they received the update.

They can put their location, time of update and status - works great or problems.

This would be more valuable to me than wading through 20 pages of wishful pleas for the update and sprint, samsung and google bashing.

I am such a noob, I don't even know if I can start a thread?

I don't know why its taking so long or why sprint can't communicate as to what's the hold up...I nvr got the eb13update so I'm all stock and prolly wont get it till last if at all like last time lmao

Thats it.

And no one is bashing google, but yes Samsung is taking a beating.

Ha ha love it!

I've had my Epic since it came out and I ain't really upset at the fact that I don't have 2.1 but more the that I paid $250 for this high-end Android phone and 7 months later no major software upgrade from Samsung. I could of bought a Evo which is almost as good and been more up to date. I have my upgrade in June and still considering getting the Nexus S 4g or a Galaxy S2 if a cdma version comes for Sprint. I need a Samsung intervention before I end up buying another Samsung phone.

Text message received at 4:33 PM EDT, sent 2:06 PM or so it says. I'm rooted so I know I won't be getting the OTA so thought I'd just report the text, too.

received (and promptly deleted) the SprintID sms about two hours ago. my experience with the Epic over the last 4 months is starting to look a whole lot like what I went through with the Palm Pre. a phone with increasingly horrible battery life and no support from the manufacturer or carrier.
