Sprint Samsung Epic 4g Official Froyo EC05 [update.zip method/Custom Odin Packages]

My two cents worth: I have a Pre an Epic and a EVO all active on sprint. The Epic the key board is great if you use it, The EVO is just plain great and the Pre I cant remove because the WebOS is still the best by far. If only an
Epic or EVO with a Webos operating system. Good luck in your journey

Given one choice, EVO or Epic?

got tired of waiting, i flashed back to di 18 then did the update.zip for ec05. so far GPS WORKS!! and no camera, or video lag.

+1 on this. Epic screen is great. I wonder what the Pre3 screen is going to look like as I want to go back to WebOS at some point, like when the EPIC breaks.

You're going to have LESS apps than the original Pre, hope you know that.

Definitely, I had an EVO, and my daughter came home with an EPIC and, I took the evo back then next day, for the screen quality alone!!

I can't say enough about the epics screen. The evo's screen is bigger but the epic's blows it away in picture quality. Once you use it you can't go back.

Did I miss something? Isn't this the Samsung Sprint Epic 4g Official Froyo EC05 update thread?

It seems alot of the Epic owners are former Pre owners. It also seems alot of the current Epic owners are future Evo 3D owners.

EC05 - root & free wireless tether?

My Epic is strictly stock eclair, unrooted, with many market apps installed. Please point me to what I need to do to root and install free wireless tether after I update to EC05.

Thanks!

You could just root it on stock eclair and flash one of the three EC05 ROMs out there.

So I guess the next thing the devs will be working on is an EC05 without Sprint ID? It doesn"t really matter I guess cause after playing around with it I will never use it but it would be nice to have that memory back. How many of you like Sprint ID or will use it?

The two ROMs running EC05 that were released prior to this update have SprintID as an add on package, not built in. Bonsai 4.0 and midNIGHT v5

If you don't go looking for it, you don't even know its there. I don't see how the space it takes up is a problem when you can move apps to sd card for more space.

So many people (not saying you) were screaming that they didn't want Sprint ID and that it was going to ruin their phones or something. The non OCD people can leave it in their app drawer and forget it exists like any other piece of bloatware.
