Has anyone actually gotten the update for the moment from sprint? I have twice now gone to a repair center to try and get it, and they insist that there is no such update and I am crazy. They think I am trying to update OS version to 2, when I till them (and even show them the print out of the web page) they say that is not from sprint's website ans I should stop bothering them!!!!
Is this update worth pursuing? does it do anything significant or should I just give up? Please advise...

I'm still waiting for mine to get it as well. They know it's there, but still haven't recieved it yet, and have no idea when.. I'm tempted to d/l it myself, and take it to them.. or flash the phone myself.

Got mine done on Monday. Works beautifully. I restored all my stuff with Sprite and that was a mistake and I ended up resetting to factory default again. Then I installed the programs one by one and I have no problems anymore.
Even handsfree calling with bluetooth works now :)

Call CS. Explain the situation, be sure to give the store location and name of whoever you talked to. Calmly and politely explain that they need to get this critical update on your phone, or start processing a refund and reset your upgrade. Get the CS agents name, and get an appointment time at a store. Be sure to have the cs agent note your account. If there's a problem at the store when you go in, be calm and ask for the manager. If the manager can not help you, have him/her call cs while you're at the store.

Sprint is aggressively trying to fight the old stigma of bad service that's plagued them for years, and things like this won't help. Tools like the employees at the store that told you to stop bugging them need to hit the unemployment line IMO. Even if they can't help they need to learn a bit about customer satisfaction, and find the name of someone who can.

I got mine done last Saturday without incident. It went very smoothly. Make sure that you are going to an actual Sprint Store with a repair center and not some franchise. Go to Sprint's website and use their store locater to find an authorized store. I was in and out in less than a half hour and that was on the second day that the update was available.

I'm gonna call my local Sprint Store (that has a repair center) to see when I can go in and get the update.

Thanks for the input. I did call CS, they confirmed the store I went to should have been able to help, but then said, sorry they didn't, I can't do anything until they are aware...oh well, sounds like the update IS worthwhile, and I do like the phone, so I shall wait patiently for them to get it together I guess.

Got mine on Monday - would've done it Saturday but the store was way too busy and I hadn't backed up my info. Went smooth, no problems. Hope you're able to get yours soon!

Just called my local store (Keith St. Cleveland, TN). They said they have and are able to do the update, but since I don't have the phone yet I haven't had a chance to stop by lol.

I'm waiting for Sprint to make it avalabe for download. I don't want to drive 30 miles just to end up having issues doing the update.....

i called 3 sprint stores till 1 of them had the update it took about 20-25 mins and its worth it my life battery seems bettery now and my phone is even snappier..

I just returned from a Sprint store qualified to perform this OS upgrade. They recommended I wait because a newer update is due out in about 10 days. Apparently there have been a few problems with the 1/15/2010 upgrade and this newer one fixes those issues. I have google'd for info on this and found nothing to confirm.

as an update, I went to a different store that said they had it. They told me it would take 2 and 1/2 hours, and of course would wipe my phone. I said fine, I figure I can rebuild my phone after the update.
Long story short, 2 1/2 hours later they hand me back my phone, and tell me the update failed, but my phone is still wiped!!! They say they will call me when they have an update that works.
A bit frustrating...:)

I've come to the conclusion that the Sprint stores near me don't know anything about this phone. I've since downloaded the homebrew version of the update, and did it myself (rooting the phone in the process, oh darn). I've definately seen an improvement in the battery life. I may eventually take it to the Sprint store when they get it, if I can convince them to let me do it.. It took me about 20 mins to do the updates myself.

I had to swap my Moment because of a problem and my new one came with the update already installed. Seems OK so far. I noticed a few small things. When you boot the phone, instead of showing Samsung>Sprint logo>Android, it shows Samsung>Sprint logo>Samsung again. When you are on a call, instead of the little Android robot, it's a lame picture frame. I just got in a couple hours ago though, so we'll see what happens !

Where do you get the homebrew version of the update & how do you apply it?

My fiance has a Moment and I haven't figured out how to root it yet (my Hero was easy).

My local Sprint repair center refused to install the patch? fix? to my Moment this morning (its sucks down battery faster than a newborn piglet at her mommies teat). In other words my typical crash n burn experience with Sprint. Apparently they've been told to not do the patch as some phones blow up, melt, start spewing Barry Manilow tunes randomly etc., they don't know when next patch is available, blah blah blah blah blah - I sort of started hearing Charlie Brown's grandma on the phone at Thanksgiving- you know what I talking about.

Didn't anyone, anyone at all at Samsung, Sprint test battery life of these phones before dumping them on John Q Public?

Is it just stupid to even ask?

WEnt to the Sprint Store last Tuesday for the update. I asked if they did the update for the Moment and they said YES. It took about 20 min including waiting online and walked out with my updated Moment. My Moment is so much improved its like having a brand new phone! Battery life went from socks to ROCKS! Easily get 18 hours use now with pretty good usage and still have 30% to 50% life left. You will have to download a battery widget to get % now though.
I started to make notes of everything that was improved and filled up a whole page, Sorry to much for me to post here. Let me just say it is well worth getting the update, I would have happily waited 2 hours or more for it. Just call ahead and find a store that does the updates.
