Mine has none of the issues that everyone is complaining about & smokes my EVO in every way, so I wouldn't say its a "fail." Guess I got the only one that works right.
Mines working great as well. I feel like its naive to state that the Nexus is a "fail" because there are issues. Evo had issues when it was released, I don't see how issues that haven't been resolved yet constitute a "failed" phone considering it hasn't been out for even 2 months yet (the 4g that is) Mine works splendidly, way better than any phone I've had before. So its not everyone who's having issues that render it unusable. Mine roams unnecessarily occasionally, but data still works. So I doubt if many people view it as a failed device.
That's BS and you know it every once in a while you'll se your data connection drop ... we all notice this.

I have experienced in the past week or so increasing problems with data signal, the phone is now locating my position 30 miles off using wireless only. I have similar problems on my other Sprint phones so this is a network problem that is compounding whatever issues I had with the Nexus itself. Call signal is not yet affected.
Going on an out-of-state trip next week and I can't update my PRL file either, anyone seen similar issues with the network recently.
Yes, I had the same problem in Orange County, CA last week. My position was always 30 miles off, and I could only get a GPS lock on while standing outside on the side walk.

This has happened to me a couple of times. I just reboot and it's fixed.
The aformentioned picturesWould you like to see a picture? Unless my eyes are going bad, I read 2.4
The aformentioned pictures
I take some issues with this screen shot. Not trying to rain on anyones parade but let me play devils advocate
1) The build date on that ROM is 4/19/2011. This phone didnt come out until 5/8/2011. This is someone likely testing a pre-release build hence why it's signed with test keys. Also, the baseband (see point 2 below) also lends credibility to this being a pre-release build.
2) The phone in the picture is running baseband D720SPRKD6. Ours has D720SPRKD8. That means our phone has a newer baseband than the one in the picture. So that would mean they are testing a new software build, with an old baseband??me thinks not. Our baseband was immediately updated to D8 upon activation. Actually, i got my phone on 5/6 and it was upgraded so that means this screen shot happened before 5/6
3) With the above info calling certain things into question, the only real leg to stand on is the android version shows 2.4. Give me a few minutes and I'll upload an attach a picture of mine running ..... version 3.9.6 (number was randomly picked out of the air, do not PM me asking for a build of 3.9.6 lol)
EDIT - Pic attached
A new build is being tested. Some tweaks, in combination with the old, pre-out-of-the-box-OTA baseband are on more than one Sprint engineer's Nexus S.
Yes, we know this is true. We can't say anything more without putting a job or two at risk. A few folks at Sprint like to keep us in the loop, and we appreciate it. We also can't share the backstory on this. I can tell you the above, and show you the attached pic. This is why it never made the blog a few weeks back.
Anything you hear differently, is either wild guessing or from a different source.
Jerry in another thread said they were testing a new build with the old baseband so that would further corroborate his picture
