Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

It could be because as of today SPRINT is rolling out KitKat to the HTC ONE. Once again...we have been passed over.

I think you mean the HTC one max because sprints HTC one got kit Kat at least a month ago.

Dang you anticipation, you're making me wait.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

I'm currently running just stock 4.2, rooted. I am assuming that when the OTA finally arrives that my device will still update?? Is this a safe assumption, or will I have to unroot to update. I'm also assuming that this update will unroot my phone, therefore I will need to root it again. If this is also true, will existing rooting tools still work, or will I have to wait for a new and improved before rerooting?

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

You should return to stock so the Over The Air update recognizes your phone.
Once the update is compete, re-rooting should be no problem.

As I stated, I am running stock, rooted can still be the stock rom, it does not mean a custom rom is installed. A rooted rom is still the exact same rom, only with greater access to the file structure, it does not change any properties of the rom that were not already there. My question is whether or not I need to unroot.

You will need to unroot your phone or, like me, you'll running the risk of soft-bricking your phone. I would wait a day or two before re-rooting because the kernel is changing and you want to made sure the root software is compatible. Hope this answers your question.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - The Rumors, Conjecture and Hearsay thread.

Don't want to throw any gas on the fire, but... What makes everyone think that Sprint will release KitKat to the LG G2 by the end of first quarter? As I recall, it was LG that stated that they would release KitKat for the LG G2 by the end of first quarter, which they did... Early, in fact. But I don't see how that obligates Sprint in any way to release the update on any timeline. We all know Sprint's marketing phrase, "There's nothing that can be done in a short time, that can't be done just as well in a long time"

I am eager to have my phone improved, like everyone else, and had a hard time believing that LG would release such a fantastic phone with JellyBean... I know the KitKat update will improve on already great performance, by a few milliseconds here and there, but I don't think it's going to cover any of the items on my wish list anywway... Those are GoogleWallet touch to pay, Knock Code, or better performance from the camera (beyond a faster startup).

What is it that everyone is hoping to gain from KitKat if/when Sprint does ever release it?

Just curious...
