Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I did the "clear Google services framework" trick and got the update. I was going to do a factory reset after the update anyways so went this route. Now my battery lasts longer!

If you're going this route;

make sure you use the LG Backup app and back up everything, then copy this backed up file to your computer BEFORE you do a factory reset.

Backup
Copy over backed up file to a computer or somewhere off your phone
Update
Factory Reset
Copy over the backup file back to your phone and do a restore

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I have the same issue - on mine - it shows the full download, then requests that you press a button to install and reboot and it warns you that it will reboot a few times... Then you see the android installation wizard and a progress bar... Upon the first reboot - it reboots back into the 4.2.2 state as if nothing at all happened... I've tried it about three times so far as well...

Hm... Okay, so back up your information. If you use LG Backup it will erase it if you don't move it to a pc. After backing everything up (or at least your applications, most everything else is tied to your Google account and should be okay), do a factory reset. My guess is that during the initial download of the update, it got corrupted. Do an fdr to ensure it's removed from the phone. Then try to re-download it and initiate the install (before restoring your backups). See if that helps you out.

Same here. It tells me to hit the button to reboot, our little Android robot pops up and appears to be installing the update and then it reboots back into 4.2.2. The time of installing the update seems awfully quick though. Maybe 20 seconds. Then when it reboots there is no optimizing of apps which actually makes sense if it never really updates.

Yeah, mine rebooted 4 times, each time going back to Mr android and the spinning belly. Sounds like your install files are failing to me.

Hey Adam - I did the LG Backup and have that info on my PC, and did the FDR. Now it doesn't seem to like that "Google Services Framework" trick anymore, so it won't throw the update file like it used to. I'll keep trying though.

You say your not rooted? Was you rooted in the past? Can you confirm you have stock recovery?

That would seem strange, I would assume they're smart enough to put an MD5 checksum into the process.

I know it's not LG, but for one update on my HTC EVO 4G LTE I had to download the update 4 times (it kept complaining that the downloaded file was corrupt).

My last suggestion is boot into recovery and do a factory reset. If it don't take the update after that than you will need to go to Sprint or flat back to ZC7 than update to ZVA and ZVC. Thanks.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

For me I get into recovery by turning the phone off completely than holding the power and volume down at the same time. Do not release the two buttons until it goes to recovery. If you can do a factory reset through recovery than do so.

I tried this and I was able to get into a recovery looking screen for about 1 second and then my phone immediately went into a black screen and it once again said "Fastboot mode started". I'm able to boot it back on but I'm pretty sure this means I can't boot into my recovery at all. Now what?

I didn't need to fix it, that's what it does when it fully installs, so if you are only rebooting once then something is failing. Are you sure it downloaded the whole update? It took about 10 minutes to download the update on Wi-Fi for me..

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Yes it did fully download. At this point I tried 7 times, then I factory reset my phone and have tried an additional 6 times. No problem with the spark update. Very dissapointed. By the way, thanks everyone for all the help.

When I did the update,it said to do a profile first. Might sound dumb, but did you do that before trying kitkat update?

Download the update again take it to the Sprint store and have them hit install update. They will fix it or get you setup with a new phone.

Back up to your computer to be sure and do the fdr and you should be good.
