Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

So, heard something interesting yesterday and today regarding OTA updates for Sprint Android phones. Was in a Sprint store regarding an issue with another phone. I mentioned the KitKat update and why it takes so long. At the store 3 of their employees have the G2. Two have received the update and one has not. Apparently it is Google that manages the whole OTA update process. It is a apparently a combination of your LG-G2 serial number and the internal Google system id of your device that determines when you get the update. This makes some sense given the Google Services framework trick to force the update (although I still don't understand why that would put you at the front of the line).

I asked when the rollout ends (so those of us who do not have can have some kind of idea when we might get it). They looked it up and currently there is no end date listed for the deployment. :-(

Well, it took me almost a month to get the Spark update, so I'm just guessing I'm probably in the back of the line for KK as well. Waiting sucks, but at least by the time I get it, most of the bugs, and their solutions, should be known.

I almost fainted when I got the update on the first day. In the morning. Usually, I'm near the end, so I feel your pain. No bugs to report here.

The update just installed now, as in it's ready to download. But thing is, I don't have stock recovery, so what should I do? Download it, or not?

I've heard you need to have stock for it to work.

Five slowest things in the world:
5) paint drying
4) grass growing
3) tree sap flowing in the dead of winter
2) a dead snail
1) Sprint's kitkat rollout for the LG2

I hate that it keeps telling me my system is up to date when it really isn't.

I just got the update this morning when I turned on my phone(Houston, Tx). Took about 10 mins or so and so far no major issues.

First time poster. Just got the KK update this AM in Indianapolis. So far no issues to report.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I'm surprised, tried the Google Framework trick today and it actually worked! I know people have been saying it does, but I'm always skeptical. I think secret is the fact that the number of times you have to do it isn't a fixed amount. I have tried several times in the past days, however after about two times I just gave up. Today I methodically went through, cleared data, backed out, went into check update, nothing happened, and repeated full process (yes it does take a little patience, backing out, going back in, etc.) probably five or six times, was just about ready to give up, and voila! It started downloading! I apologize to all they have been saying this works for doubting you, it actually does work!!

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I got mine last night, or this morning I should say, after I manually checked at 12:03AM. I had checked at 11:45 and didn't get anything so perhaps when Google kicks off each wave it runs by the phones local time zone somehow? I'm in the central time zone so I'm nowhere close to Google's home time zone. I really don't know enough about the nitty, gritty details on how Google does updates to know if that has anything to do with anything :p

I'm just surprised I got the update so soon. The last two I got on day 12 or 13 of the 'typical' 14 day window. Not that this seems to be a major update, but still nice I suppose.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Restart your phone. Right after the SPLINT splashscreen, it says SPRING SPARK if you have it.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

The worst part is when I hit the update manual button it tells me my phone is up to date and I know it is not! My phone is a liar.....
