I thought about it too. The problem for me is I am not the Sprint account holder.
Where do you live? I live in Michigan and don't think it would be a big deal. I don't think they got many preorders. You cab always call and ask.
I imagine the stores ordered more than just what was preordered.
I live in Indiana, I tried calling the store and they couldn't tell me how pre orders vs how many phones they will be receiving. I'm very tempted to call best buy mobile and make the switch though...
My local Best Buy has them in stock but they can't sell until tomorrow. They have ZERO preorders other than mine.

Gave them the $50 to preorder just to hold it. Already have a pickup confirmation for tomorrow.

Well after visiting the store I feel I'm pretty safe with changing to in store pick up. I guess I can't change my order until tomorrow morning when the store actually shows stock.
Just went to store.
They cancelled my online order, let me preorder, and all I had to do was pay $50 down which they gave back to me as a gift card.
Tomorrow at 10AM I walk in, pay the rest of the $58 with my card and $8.
Whoop!

Went into best buy store Monday and pre ordered the G2 to avoid any potential shipping delays. Received email confirmation today that my G2 is ready to pick up tomorrow. Sweet.
Has anyones order shipped from Best Buy yet? I checked availability for the G2 and it says only available for instore pickup
Mine has not shipped yet. I even called last night to ask about it and they couldn't tell me anything. Then asked if I could change it to in store pick up and they couldn't do that either.

You may want to try calling again as reports are you can switch to instore pickup.
I just got it changed to in store pick up....whew. Now when I get home later this evening, I'm hoping I have an email saying it's ready to be picked up.
Switched to in-store pickup now! Will have this phone in hand this afternoon! Also, for those wondering, I ensured that I would still receive the $50 gift card for the online pre-order.
How did you do that? I called and they basically said they couldn't switch. Still no idea when it is going to ship. Basically, it is in process. I'm fed up with BB. I found the Nexus 5 with upgrade for 49 on amazon this morning and might cancel and go with that.
Just told them I couldn't understand why a phone I pre-ordered a month ago still hadn't shipped yet when I could walk into a store and buy one...the lady I talked to was very helpful, found a close store with one available, and was able to change it. Maybe try again?
Just got mine UPS. No signature or anything. Dude just left it on my doorstep. Its overcast and could start raining any second. Good 'ol UPS.
Anyway, the phone is nice. Better reception than my old Epic 4G Touch. Loving it.
