Squeeze Control for Android (support thread)

Hi,
I'm intending to use an Android tablet to control my squeezebox player but I would like it to act like my SB Touch used to do:
1.- display cover-title-etc when playing music and keep screen awake
2.- display a clock screensaver after a certain time without playing music (and keep screen awake)

From what I've read 1.- is already implemented in Squeeze Ctrl but haven't been able to find anything about 2.-
Can Squeeze Ctrl do 2.-?

No

Hi,
mute playing music is working when there is an incoming call, but the music is not resumed when it ends (?)
It does not work ?

And one more question, where can I find setup support when using Android Auto?

Thank you.

I just tested it and it works on my phone. Did you enable "Always Connected" in preferences, so that the app will stay connected to the server when it is in the background. You'll also need that for Android Auto.

There's no other setup required for Android Auto. Just choose Squeeze Ctrl as the media app.

Hi.
Just purchased the app and it works great.
Like the user Gilles Gamesh I use the app with Daphile and would like to add my support for the option to have shutdown as an option for sleep. Daphile is installed on a laptop in my bedroom and I often listen before bed, so it would be nice to have my laptop shutdown rather than just sleeping the player. Perhaps if you try to contact the developer through his website, he could provide the html command need to do this?
I'd also like to add a couple of requests for the sleep function:
A user defined time. Sometimes I'm listening to albums that are longer than 90 minutes so the ability to choose a longer time period would be nice.
Maybe an option for sleep at the end of playlist - you already have at the end of song
An option to sleep at a specific time of day - say sleep at midnight in case a person leaves the system running
Thanks for your time and keep up the good work.

Hello, very nice work on the app, for the most part works great.

One annoying feature I found today though.
When going to My Music/Playlists, swiping a playlist deletes it from the disk of the server (not just its library).
Moreover, there doesn't appear to be a way to undo the deletion.
Is there any way to disable this? It seems pretty dangerous, I deleted a playlist by accident but fortunately had a recent backup.

That's out of the control of the app. You need to ask the LMS developers.

My concern is not that SC/LMS deletes the playlist from disk.
It's that it is so easy to do this by swiping in the Squeeze Control app.
It's the swiping behavior (which is easy to do accidentally) that I am talking about.

Hi, it is really a great app.

I've only some problems when playing DTS 5.1 WAV Files.... Then I can only play and stop the songs. The scrubb/timeline feature is gone in the app! Which is strange because the Squeezebox with remote has no problems when shuttle forward or backward in all files. Any hints ??
Thanks in advance!

SBPlayer v1.4.5
Squeeze Ctrl v2.1.7
Samsung Galaxy S10
Android v10
Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones

Would it be possible to add support in Squeeze Ctrl for the headphone gesture commands to pause playing, next track, previous track? The volume commands are the only ones that work currently. I noticed that they're not supported in Orange Squeeze either, but are in the BBC Sounds app.

Cheers
Colin

Hello,

Very polished app compared to others that I've tried, Is it possible to add a 'Clear playlist on exit' option?, sometimes I forget to stop the stream when I exit only to find it's still running days later, it would leave SC in a 'clean' state on the next restart also (No playlists left hanging).

Thanks providing a very useful piece of software...

The seek bar will only show up if the server marks the currently playing track is seekable in the player status message that it sends to the app. So most likely the server is not telling the app that the track is seekable.

Have you tried enabling 'Use Media Buttons' in Preferences > Controls?

I'll look into it.

Hi Wayne, I am a satisfied user of Squeeze Ctrl since a couple of years now - thanks for keeping up the good work! I now thought about starting to use SB player for my android phone while being on the road. I would like to connect my smartphone to my LMS via a VPN so that I could also listen to my music while being outside of my WiFi network. Is that a stable working use case? How about the buffering of music if there is no (good) connection due to low network strength, e.g.?

If I remember correctly I made the input buffer big enough to hold about 5 minutes of mp3 at 320 kbps. Not sure what that would translate to in aac or flac. SB Player will automatically choose low bandwidth mode (lossy formats only) when you are on a mobile connection so if you want to use flac you'll need to set it to high bandwidth manually.

I'm only using mp3 format and so far this solution works like a charm! Together with Spicefly SugarCube as a mixer I can now easily say goodbye to Google Play Music (before it says goodbye to me). Again and again Im really amazed by all the opportunities the LMS ecosystem offers.

Hi, I'm using the current android squeeze ctrl version. Unless I select "artist, album" or "artist, year, album" in "settings, advanced, album sorting method" the Album view in My music is empty. In my hardware players (squeezebox touch) and in the Squeezer app albums are readily visible in alphabetical order. /Mikael

Try doing a full rescan of the music library.
