Stable One UI 5

Anyone else with an unlocked S22 device receive the One UI 5.0 update? Waiting on it currently. I'm on the Spectrum Mobile network.
yes, but I was in the beta. my bride, also unlocked on TMO, has not received it yet.

Understood on this. So it is possible the unlocked devices that were on beta were prioritized ahead of those not on beta.

I'm still trying to figure out with unlocked devices and the software updates, how your provider comes into play.

It gets certified by the carrier that everything is good on their end and Samsung releases it

I have an unlocked S22 Ultra I bought directly from Samsung. I'm currently using Tmobile but I'm on vacation in the UK. I haven't got the update yet, I wonder will I be able to get it over here or have to use a VPN or something?

educate me, Mustang. last year I was in the Beta with a S21U. once the stable UI was released, those of us in the Beta were effectively the last to receive the stable release. the explanation was that, because unlocked phones need to be able to function across different carriers, we needed to wait for all the carriers to approve the release before unlocked got the update.

this year, also in the Beta, (S22U, unlocked, TMO sim) I received the stable update on the day it was released...obviously pushed out by Samsung, not TMO.

it seems the explanation for why unlocked received the update last in 2021 was, in fact, not entirely accurate? do you have any idea as to why so many in the Beta got the stable release first this year? (I like things to make sense lol)

Hi, on unlocked models since Samsung pushes it that gave no way of testing how good their firmware is on a network so they give to carrier to test and and slap certified then goes back to Samsung to release.

Now sometimes unlocked get that carrier certification quickly and they fast to put it out to users, so if Verizon is first and TMO,Att still testing then got wait. The unlocked firmware doesn't matter which carrier u on will always have sane bootloader number so if one carrier release it then u can flash with Odin instead of waiting even though the other carrier didn't certified it yet , i know that part confusing lol . Carrier just want make sure no issues while using them thats the delay its not like they Will change anything in firmware just be delayed until it says everything good on their end .

If a carrier version Samsung has a issue/revisement they will change the firmware and why u get a bootloader different from other carrier

I believe you're correct from what I've read. T-Mobile has yet to certify the One UI 5.0 update, which is why most all of the unlocked S22 models (aside from some that participated in the beta program) haven't received the update yet.

this is ultimately my question: why would I receive the stable release immediately (unlocked)? even with Mustang's explanation, it still is inconsistent from Samsung.
