Standalone Mode

But they aren't entirely to blame, If i were an AT&T person i'd be telling my Manager, "Sorry, i don't have a degree in quantum mechanics, i'll TRY to help out our customers, but i'm at a little bit of a deficit here, THIS IS HARRRRRRD!"

Would it KILL Tizen designers to put all options in one dang place with each option THOROUGHLY explained?! (For ppl who do not need their "hand held" it could just remain a little "info" button for each feature that could be opened/collapsed...)

Good gravy, the watch is supposed to be the "SMART one, not me.. i never claimed to have a "brain in my head, which is why i'm using "smart" phones/watches in the FIRST place... I don't like to work this hard to understand ANYTHING....

I was so completely "over the moon" about this purchase, but gotta admit, when all of a sudden you notice you haven't gotten any emails and then spend 6 hours, countless searches, give up, try next day, do another exhaustive search, then find the software is glitchy or there is no "true set up" instructions anywhere to be found, or its working, THEN its not, or ONLY working under a set of conditions that is ONLY apparent to The Great Smartwatch G*d up in the sky and NO ONE ELSE, my appreciation of it begins to dwindle, & it becomes hard to recommend this watch to people. :(

I feel the exact same way you do. I was/still am completely "over the moon" about this purchase. I just wish AT&T chat agents, employees at stores, etc were better trained about this watch and stop giving me false information.

This is all I want to know:

If I'm out somewhere and I want to call someone on the watch does the watch have to be paired/connected to my smart phone or can the watch be disconnected from my smart phone to make phone calls and receive phone calls? If I'm out somewhere and someone calls me does it matter whether my watch is paired/connected to my smart phone or disconnected from my smart phone?

It shouldn't be this hard for an AT&T chat agent or an AT&T employee at a store to answer this. I don't understand why I'm getting false information from the chat agents or the employees.

My guess is that it's because it's a low volume product that's complex and they can't make every agent an expert in every product. There needs to be better knowledge materials for the agents to use.

Take the watch to an AT&T store, and have them check the watch and phone. If they give you crap ask or a manager, or demand they replace the watch.

I'm going to test it out first. I'm going to have someone call the watch when the watch is paired/connected to my phone. I'm also going to have that same person call the watch when the watch is in standalone mode and see if the watch works in both instances.

Sooooo Chris, (and any other member that might chime in : )

i have a question: Do y'all use gmail, and if so, do you get them on your watch? I ONLY get them when i set up the account, they seem to sync at setup, but from there forward all i see is, "No Email" And apparently there is no way to "refresh"... Thanks!

Sorry no I don't use gmail. I use yahoo mail.

So I just tested out the watch and here's what happened:

I paired/connected the watch to my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone. Then I had my friend call me and when he called me it showed up on my phone and the watch. I answered the call on the watch and the sound quality was really good. Then we tried it the other way. I disconnected the watch from the phone and put the watch in standalone mode and when he called me it showed up on the phone and not the watch. Why is that? I thought you were supposed to be able to make and receive phone calls on the watch even if the watch is disconnected from the phone and is in standalone mode?

I have 4 gmail accounts. Only 2 show up on the watch but that's the way I have it setup on the phone. Those 2 accounts I have setup to not receive notifications on the phone. Is it possible you have it in your gmail settings this way so you just need to change that?

I have mine set up not to receive email notifications but the email content in the stock app is up to date, at least when I open the app (I believe it syncs at that time).

I never setup or use the stock email app & I also use Hangouts for my messenger app. Receive emails & sms just fine. I use to have a problem receiving sms from Hangouts when I had my gear s. Once I set Hangouts as my default app it started working great.

I have the Gear s3 4g through tmobile, and my Note 4 edged is through Sprint. When I take my gear out without my phone, I receive a notification that my gear has lost bluetooth connection with my phone. Approx. 30 secs later, my gear remotely connects to my phone (if you look at the pull down menu on your gear, you will see remotely connected). Now, im able to receive and make calls, receive and reply to texts using my phones number. But this only happens when the Gear is remotely connected to your phone. If the Gear is not remotely connected, the Gears phone number will be used for phone calls, text etc.

ATT and Tmobile have services called number sync, which allows you to use the same phone number on your watch and phone.

Well, I connected my Gear S3 to my phone and I had my friend who was sitting next to me call me and the call showed up on both my phone and the watch. Then we tried the other way and I disconnected the watch from the phone and put it in standalone mode and when my friend called me this time the call showed up on my phone and not the watch. I have AT&T and I use NumberSync. I just don't understand why the call didn't show up on the watch when it was in standalone mode when my friend tried to call me.

When you try the troubleshooting in stand alone mode is WiFi still connected on your phone?

I'm on TMO, so I'm not sure if it applies to AT&T, but here's the deal. You have to make sure to turn on forwarding on your phone AND your watch. On the phone, you have to enter your watch number as the "forwarded to" number. That should do it. You will be able to get calls from both numbers.

You mean call forwarding? I had call forwarding turned on but I ran into a problem. Some of my friends tried to call my phone and they said the call went straight to voicemail. You said on the phone I have to enter my watch number as the "forwarded to" number. I don't think it works that way with AT&T.

In my TMO settings, under More, I scroll down to Call forwarding. When I tap to show me the options. There's the Always forward on top (which you can turn on or leave off) and under that is Forward If. I have three choices: Busy, Unanswered, and Unreachable. Each allows me to designate a Forwarding to number. I can forward to voice mail number or my watch number for each option. I chose Unreachable to have my phone calls transferred to my watch, and it works fine. The other two are forwarded to my voice mail. I can change any or all of them whenever I want. The Always forward setting allows all call to be forwarded to whatever number you choose. This would be a good choice if you lack the others. Then, when you leave your phone at home, you can have all calls forwarded to your watch. I don't know if these are only TMO options, though.

As mentioned in the other thread I went to the AT&T store earlier and there were about 6 employees in the store. I had about 5 of them come over to my table to figure out the issue. None of them could figure it out. They connected the watch remotely and tried turning NumberSync on and off but that didn't fix the issue. They tried turning Bluetooth on and off but that didn't fix the issue. The manager tried calling my phone from his phone and the call showed up on my phone but not the watch. They thought that maybe you had to be far away from the phone so the manager took his phone and went to a different part of the mall and called my phone but apparently the call didn't show up on the watch. They tried everything they could think of but nothing worked. Finally they called tech support and they did what tech support told them to do but nothing worked. They told me that tech support would report this and they would talk to the higher ups and supposedly I'm supposed to get a call within 5 days. My guess is that if they still can't figure this out they'll either have me send the watch somewhere so they can fix it or they'll have me send the watch back and they'll replace it with a new one.
