Every computing device should be rebooted occasionally to verify there is cleanup for any third party apps that might have memory leaks etc... Also always install any and all updates as soon as they come out... Lastly, leave at least 20% free storage space on the unit or else that will intermittently/continuously slow things down...I've had no lag with my first gen Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I have all kind of apps downloaded to it and running in the background. Also I have it set to restart the phone once a week to help any lag problems. So either I got lucky or you're not doing it right.

I'm having a gallery lag where it will stutter opening and closing pics. Anyone have a solution to this?
During the phone call switching back to the homepage it almost froze. Had to end the call and restart the phone and everything went back to normal.
It's only been 1 month.
You guys have any problems yet?
Yes, this issue is present in Note 8 as well (it was present on Note 2, Note 4 as well). After opening Gallery App, there is a 2-3 sec. wait time, after which we are able to scroll down / open pics, not immediately. But after that it's fine.
I have reported above issue to Samsung, let's hope they fix it in the future.
I run my N8 in power saving mode all the time since day one.

that's why I don't use the gallery. that's a Sammy gallery issue. I use Quickpic and have no lag issues while in gallery mode.

Good workaround... And also, I love your username!
Am not having this issue. Are you saving pics in SD card ? It also depends on read speed of your card.
The issue I'm having is when opening and closing pics in the gallery there is lag and stuttering. I don't have that many pics either.Yes, this issue is present in Note 8 as well (it was present on Note 2, Note 4 as well). try a different gallery app. it's the app itself. The issue I'm having is when opening and closing pics in the gallery there is lag and stuttering. I don't have that many pics either.
I just tried deleting all my gifs and there's now less stuttering, but it's still a little bit there.try a different gallery app. it's the app itself.
Maybe there should be a forum sticky that states a few common-sense points that all owners of computing devices need to know, along with the statement that there are no devices/brands that are immune. Then, every time someone says something like "When will my new Samsung start to lag?", we can just respond with a link to the sticky, and we'll be done with it.
If we were able to do this, maybe we could de-fuse this entire topic.
Wouldn't that be nice?
What kind of lag?
I followed very simple strategyI'm having a gallery lag where it will stutter opening and closing pics. Anyone have a solution to this?
I followed very simple strategy
I just open the developer options and decreased all the animations to nil, my lag was gone.
I should also mention I have 10 GB the memory left in the phone, not all the memory is used.
I can ask if one of the Ambassadors is interested in writing a guide up. But, any regular member is welcome to write up a guide as well.
