Steve knew what he wanted and what others wanted, even if it didn't exist yet. Just don't get in his way or fail to deliver. He was on a mission and he succeded.

Who said the mod didn't agree? I read your post and I think he concluded that this thread was not an invitation for you to bash a man who just died within the last 24 hours.
Love him and his products, or hate him and his products(I generally fell into the second camp), the man earned his place in the annals of Industry first through influencing the creation of the home computer market, and then by resurrecting Apple by sheer force of will.

If someone feels a particular way about a person in their life, is that supposed to change after their death? I have heard too many eulogies paint horrid people as saints. I am not saying that Steve Jobs was a horrid person.
What a great man. Really if it were not for him upping the anty, progress would have been pathetic at best. I was and am not an apple fanboy, but respect him deeply. RIP my buddy. hope your pain is at rest now.

I'm thankful he existed and created the revolutionary products he did--he and Apple forced everyone else (including Google) to compete and better themselves.
Didn't mean it as disrespectful! I clarified a bit, but if he wasn't like that (and he was well known to be) Apple goes under or is stuck making Macs for a huge minority of the population. He didn't care who got in his way, but nothing stopped him from achieving his vision. Very few people left like that...
R.I.P. A great innovator, without his vision the products we have come to rely on so heavily would not be anywhere near what they are today. His company's products changed the way we live our lives, whether you would like to admit or not, This is really shocking and out of the blue. I knew he was fighting a battle that couldn't be won but I didn't expect this at all. Really sad news to hear.
Anybody think we will see a moment of silence or tribute at the Samsung/Google event? I think it would show some serious class, especially with all the lawsuits flying around...
RIP Steve Jobs. Your vision has touched tech in one way shape or form. You drove others to excel above the norm to meet/beat your idea's therefore driving technology to what it is today. So I thank you for being part of that collective fire among tech inventors that helped shape our electronic world to what it is today and for the future. I may not have been a die hard iPhone fan in the slightest but I know I have touched your work throughout my life in one arena or another.

I agree. I own a ipod touch ans went from iphone to android. He pushed other companies to be more innovating. We just lost a great guru in the tech world.

His memory will be eternal. Steve Jobs was a visionary. He brought emotion to technology and brought it into the lives of millions. There is nothing wrong with bringing passion into electronics. His passion has influenced every bit of tech on the market today. Now I may not own a single apple product a hat tip for this genius and his tireless work to make the user first.

Love him or hate him, he changed the way we listen to music, compute, and the role our phones play in your lives. He will be up there with the great innovators of all time. If it weren't for people like Steve the phones we have today wouldn't be nearly what they are. He pushed and propelled numerous industries and we are all benefiting from that today, for that we should all be thankful.
I just hope Apple can continue with the vision and innovation that has pushed everyone.

I happen to think Apple products are extremely overrated and not at all revolutionary in anyway whatsoever. I would sooner use a tin can & a string or an 8-track player before I used anything Apple made.
HOWEVER, I am speaking of the PRODUCTS. When it comes to Steve Jobs as a PERSON, I have nothing but sympathy for his family & friends who loved him, who knew him as a HUMAN with feelings and blood in his veins. No matter what you think of the products he designed, or whether you think comparing him to Thomas Edison is a bit much (I do), regardless Steve Jobs was a human being who felt pain as well as joy just like the rest of us, and his passing should be thought of in that sense totally.
Further, just as Michael Jackson's shocking passing 2 years reminded us, even the absolute all-time greats succumb to passing, and aging prior to that. Michael Jordan is arguably the best NBA player ever, but we will never again see him perform that way. Ditto Nolan Ryan in baseball, Tom Landry as an NFL football coach, Wayne Gretsky in the NHL with hockey.
It's sad, and while it's fine to have the "fanboy discussions" (but NOT IN THIS THREAD) an event like this reminds us that in the end we are all human beings, and that is superior to such rivalries, and to keep this in perspective.
So let's extend our sympathies to Steve Jobs' family and friends who knew him as a HUMAN BEING with feelings and emotions for their loss.
