sticking with the note 8

This. I hate the yellow pee pen so much. I love the blue but they absolutely ruined it with the Jaundice pen. I wish I could get a black one instead but they don't offer it :(. Idk, maybe I'll feel different when it gets here but I have doubts. I don't mind having a purple phone but they hue they chose is horrid. It's like they want this line to end with the lack of color options and weird miss matched spens.
Maybe theyll sell varied color s pens separate, but then you'd be spending even more. If/when I get it I'll keep the weird colored pen

come on guys the N9 is a huge upgrade if not for battery alone. trust me. as an owner of the p20 pro that 4000 battery is friggen awsome. ive been up for two house and have used my phone lightly and am still on 100%.. my wifes s8 would be on 95%, at least. im a heavy user and usually come home at 60%....

ps... my p20 pro is going up for sale as this is the note that checks all the boxes!

I don’t understand all this drooling about the “cool” colors when the first thing most people do is slap a case on the phone. :-p.
So what difference does it make the color of the back of the phone.

“It’s glass, it’s slippery, must use case”. :)

HUGE UPGRADE? Please enlighten us as to what the Note 9 can do that my Note 8 cannot? Oh... larger battery. Yes, that's a plus but with fast charging my 8 doesn't miss a beat. And btw, I'm a very heavy business user and average 6 hrs SOT. Stereo speakers? With Bluetooth to my Signature Paradaigm 8 Speakers or my twin Bluebottles or my car's great sound system or my Sennheisers or Sony headphones who cares? Speed... I've got 6gb. Memory.. I've got 128 in addition to 64. Display... the 8's just fine. So tell me... with my final cost of $265 for the 8, and others with lots of credits too, why should anyone jump from the 8 to 9. Oh... the HUGE UPGRADES, that's why! Enjoy your 9! Me, I'd rather drink good whiskey than kool aid.

Curious, how much did you pay for your P20 pro? How much will you get for it? And how much will it cost you out of pocket to get the Note 9? And something you didn’t like about the P20 Pro besides the awesome battery that you want to trade up or just like new phones every year? I really like what I’ve heard about the P20 pro so am curious.

The Note 9 specs are top notch... one of the highest spec phones the day it’s out. For me the battery is a huge upgrade over the 8. But I think for many Note 8 owners it will come down to how much is it gonna cost me out of pocket to upgrade from 8 to 9 and is the updates worth that price when my Note 8 is running like a rock star.

I love all the updates on the 9 but the only thing I care enough really to upgrade is the 4000mah battery and stereo speakers. For me, if the Note 9 didn’t announce with the 4000mah battery, I definitely wouldn’t even think about it even with the rest of the updates.

so what’s the bigger battery and updates worth to me?? If it cost me no more than $200 out of pocket, then maybe. But rough example for me, if I sold my 8 for $400 and buy the 9 full retail we’re talking $500 out of pocket and for me not worth $500 for just a battery. I can enjoy my 8 another 10-12 months and revisit the question. Put it towards the Note 10 later or get a Note 9 at roughly 33% off then. For people that have jump/upgrade type plans that it costs them less than 200 it’s easier to think. If cost wasn’t a big deal then definitely get the Note 9 and enjoy... it’s a monster of a phone (but I personally hate hearing it getting a smidgen bigger every year ??????)

I just preordered the 9, didn't think I would but I use my stylus a lot so I wanted the upgrade.

789.00 for the p20 pro... I hate the notch(when hidden it mimics the bottom of the phone so at times i hold the phone upside down), no 3.5 headphone jack(its more annoying than i thought), at times i cant see replies on facebook and the camera. i feel its over hyped also the lens bump invites smudges. and if you search me you'll see i loved the mate 9 and usually stay away from samsung. i figure with some cases i should get 700.00 for the p20 pro.

There just isn't enough on the N9 to justify upgrade.
I've had the N8 for 10 months now. It still runs as well as the day I received it. Fast, great battery life and not glitchy at all. I still run nougat because I didn't see enough to want to upgrade to Oreo because of the risk of potential problems.
To be honest, I'll keep it and run nougat on it for one more year. I have a feeling the note 10 is going to be a jaw dropper, so that's when I will upgrade.
Agreed.

In fact the Note9 has made me more excited for the Note10.

The Note8 is still pretty much better than everything else that is currently out other than the Note9.

I am happy at the direction Samsung are going with the Note line right now, they are back on track. :)

I bought my note 8 a few months ago and just finished setting it up this weekend. I have been using my note 4 until the battery finally crapped out enough to make it unusable for me that way I can hang on to the note 8 a little longer before it's battery craps out now that Samsung has moved to non easily replaceable batteries.

I went to Best buy today and looked at the note 9.

I think I can live with gold pen. admittedly it isn't really gold. it's more yellow like someone else said. like a banana.

I still don't understand this decision or really care for it but that Robitussin cough syrup "lavender" isn't gonna happen. would be nice if it was purple but that pinkish purple doesn't do it for me at all.

Do I need to upgrade to Note 9 from Note 8. No. Do I want to, HELL YES. Why? Because my phone is the only thing that is glued to my hands and my A.S.S all day long and life is too short to hold out. Heck, no one knows if any of us will live to see tomorrow, let alone a full year to see the Note 10.

I'll be getting Note 9 because I upgrade yearly and because I enjoy having a new phone every year.

Bestbuy trade in is $450. That will do for me. That simple.

COMPLETELY agree. That will also give Samsung time to work out any bugs with the spen upgrades. Not to mention that my N8 will be paid off by then.

I'm with you all the way. IF I was going to get one, the blue only option with the pee pen killed any thought.

Yeah man. Such a weird decision. I also am kind of confused why they use the same name for their colors every year when they're not the same color.

My ocean blue note 8 isn't the same as the ocean blue note 9. I looked at them side by side. My note 8 is a deeper bluer blue. Gonna miss it I think.

For all those saying it's not worth the upgrade, I'm just curious as to why? Is it the combination of price and being happy with the Note 8 (which I understand) or is it something else? As far as these things go it's a beast and seems like Samsung addressed all the main concerns and request people had. Outside of personal preference I can't think of an overall device that is better on paper especially with what the S-pen delivers, whether you frequently use it or not...

Note8 blue is called deep sea blue. Note9 is ocean blue. Not being a smartie. See not the same name lol:) I think the yellow spen would have made more since if the 4 sides of the phone were yellow and rest of phone was blue. Like they did with the blue coral or coral blue or whatever they called that color on the note 7.

I broke the display on my Note 8 last night and the LCD is also damaged. I found a repair place within a few miles of me that I'm going to bring as soon as they open this morning to see how much it will cost to repair. If it's under $300, I'll get it repaired because a new phone will cost far more then that.

I too have no problem keeping my Note 8 another year and I bought it on launch day. The battery easily lasts me the full day with plenty to get me through the night till the next morning.

It's been a great phone and I hope I can get it fixed in the morning.
