sticking with the note 8

Am I the only one that likes the yellow pen with the blue phone? If for no other reason, the added visibility will come in handy, especially now that you'll presumably have it out more, other than just jotting a note and putting it away.

I like it very much too.

I would luv to be able to justify buy the note 9.. My Note 8 is perfect.. Frankly I have no interest in Dex and Bixby is useless so far.. Don't need the extra memory cameras not much better... Stereo speakers are nice... Still hate the curved screen and hassle of screen protectors I wish Hawaii would bring out a a note on a flat screen..

The Note 9 not coming in Black state side and the cost are what's prohibiting me from making the leap. The battery life is what I crave but my Note 8 is still doing what it needs to do. I hate to be that guy who says he will wait until next year but I will wait until next year.

For all those saying it's not worth the upgrade, I'm just curious as to why? Is it the combination of price and being happy with the Note 8 (which I understand) or is it something else? As far as these things go it's a beast and seems like Samsung addressed all the main concerns and request people had. Outside of personal preference I can't think of an overall device that is better on paper especially with what the S-pen delivers, whether you frequently use it or not...
Main reason I amenities upgrading is because I am cancelling my other contract, and have recently upgraded my home Internet to Fibre, so I will have 1 cell contract and 1 fibre contract, just makes more sense.

I'm only due my upgrade next year on this Note8 contract.

I was wavering, I can get the N9 as an upgrade for my S8+, zero spend except for tx and a new case and I will have the N9 and my N8 as a backup. Pulled the trigger... guess we'll see.

Cheers
BR

My Note 8 is perfect, except for one thing...

Battery. Which is honestly mediocre. You simply don't get a full day on charge. Maybe that makes me a "power user" but after a 12 hour day, I'll have 15% remaining at most which kinda sucks. Nothing's perfect. (First world problems)

That being said, Note 8's battery doesn't suck badly enough to warrant spending hundreds to upgrade. I'd need more than decent battery life and Bluetooth on my s-pen to spend £500+ on an otherwise identical phone...

6 months old CPU and GPU.
small upgrade for a high price tag.
Only 2 year's of Major update's,
support Quick Charge 2.0 from 4 years ago.
just wait for Note 10, it will be a major upgrade,

staying put. I was going to try the iPhone, but after seeing that they're keeping the notch, I've decided against it.

Have to say, Samsung really have fallen behind on the Quick Charge front, the other Android OEMs have them beat BADLY on that front.

Hopefully the S10 and Note10 solve that.

I'm not going anywhere other than keeping my Note 8 which is functioning perfectly as it has since last Sept. Btw... the same folks who are jumping from the 8 to the 9 WILL BE the same ones jumping from the 9 to the 10. You can bet on it!

Got an invite to join the Samsung Insight program. If selected, I get 50%off the Note 9. While I am supposed to report on a regular basis to Samsung on how I use my device.

That's the only time I would consider switching.

Google Pixel 2 get's 3 years of Major updates.
even onePlus 3T getting Android 9.0 Pie. wow.......but Samsung won't give 3+ years of updates....

Quick Charge 4.0 is out but Samsung won't support it, maybe scared of explosion

I am considering the Note 9 the main thing is the battery and how it looks. I am still undecided.

You can't guarantee the Note 10 wil be a "major upgrade". It will be an upgrade from the 8 and a slight upgrade from the 9. But until Samsung says anything...

Just because Apple tried with the X, doesn't mean Samsung will 2 years later. Besides I don't know anyone with the X, and these are Apple people I work with. Phones, earpods, watches etc.

My main thing is the price. Do I hang onto my Note8 until the Note10 comes out and free myself from JOD or just wait until the down payment goes down and keep riding this JOD train? Although the updates on the Note9 collectively make it a great phone. Are you really feeling this every time you pick it up?
I've never had an issue with my battery running low, the screen is only .06" bigger, the camera is better (especially for video) and of course the Bluetooth s-pen. Great to have. This year more that any other where it's more "want" than "need".
My Note8 is functioning perfectly as well. Decisions to make in the next few weeks. I want to see how the Note9 owners react to it as well.

Doesn't JOD require down payments now? Do the down payments actually go down over time? WhenI last had them mine was like $150 or $200.

Yes. $279 for the Note9, which is ludicrous for JOD. They say you can jump every 30 days. But, with those down payments, who would want to?
Some "super well qualified" customers got it for like $82 down. It doesn't go down over time - just two tiers it seems now. So, basically, if I don't qualify for that soon, I may just ride this out and go with Samsung next summer.
