sticking with the note 8

Yes. $279 for the Note9, which is ludicrous for JOD. They say you can jump every 30 days. But, with those down payments, who would want to?
Some "super well qualified" customers got it for like $82 down. It doesn't go down over time - just two tiers it seems now. So, basically, if I don't qualify for that soon, I may just ride this out and go with Samsung next summer.
Sounds to me like they are trying to force a program to close because the probably losing money people dropping phones every other month and they have to resell them at a much discounted rate

Exactly. They just don't want to say that's what they're doing. I guess they feel its customers aren't smart enough to catch on.
I told someone on chat a week or so ago that no one cares about upgrading after 30 days and almost no one will now because of the down payment. They act like upgrading every 30 days is a selling point.
Just streamline it so you can upgrade after paying off 50% and allow the customers to control how much they put down. If they don't want to upgrade, keep making payments until you are paid off. Sounds simple to me. Not sure why it's so difficult to implement.

Going to wait for the N10. 1 phone out of contract in Nov, 3 phones out in Feb and 1 more out in Mar. Hopefully when Samsung announces the N10 they will again offer BOGO.

After one year of hard 40gb a month use, plus lots of business calls, my battery still has 89% health left on the Note 8. SOT Six hours. Sampled the friend's 9 against my 8 and here are my perceptions.. The 9 is only slightly faster than the 8. Not a big deal. The displays are just about equal. The battery is larger in the 9, a positive... but the phone is also larger, thicker AND heavier! I have large, strong hands and I could tell the 9 is heavier. Both have the SAME quick charge! S Pen, both are fully functional to me. People dumping their well running phones usually at a big loss, well... that's their money. For me... the Note 8 has been the finest phone I've ever used and with all the credits and discounts from VZ... it'll wind up costing me $265.00. Which I will get back when the Note 10 comes out. That's why I'm sticking with the 8.

If tmobile didn't have a huge down payment, I'd upgrade. Larger RAM, better camera, speakers, newer, bluetooth spen, larger battery, etc.
The trade in credit isn't worth it to me. The credit for trade in locks you in a 2 year "agreement" and I'd have to give up my Note 5 (backup and to play with), or my Note 8 which isn't paid off and pay it off either way.

Nothing wrong with my Note 8. For now I'll stick with the 8.

I still love my Note 8 and don't see enough of a difference to upgrade at this point. By next year I will be ready for something new I imagine. And hi everyone, it's been a while since I have posted on here. Enjoy your note whichever one you have or buy.

Will keep my Note 8 for now. I was tempted earlier to just purchase the Note 9 especially during the pre-order frenzy. But the desire faded. I am totally satisfied with the Note 8 at the moment.

I still want one but not enough to pay over 1200 euro, I know if I got the 128gb I would still want the 512gb so no point in compromise here, I'll be sticking a few quid aside and see what offers appear for black Friday and cyber Monday or even Xmas.
If it hadn't been for samsung supports incompetence last year I could have upgraded cheap enough in November but at least I have the 46mm lte watch coming in a weeks time to feed my new gadget hunger :-)

That's cool. Let us know how you like the watch.

Same here. The pre-order was a little nuts not being included for once. But, after that was over, the desire starting slipping away from really wanting the Note9. I would have easily paid $100 down. But, no way $279. We are still talking about phones here and mine still works fine. We may jump off of JOD and onto the yearly Samsung upgrade plan. No sense in starting mid cycle as you'd miss out on the pre-order freebies next time around.

Because I am irritable today, I looked at past Black Friday deals. All T-mobile deals were BOGO free with a new line of service. The Samsung deals were about giving you a free gear camera or something else. I didn't see any dollar amount offs or outright price reductions.
