Still no announcement?

This phone is supposedly supposed to be released for direct fulfillment in 3 days. Why has it still not been officially announced by verizon? Are they planning to do a low key launch for this phone like with the droid X2?

Possibly. It's also the fourth, so I doubt they will do anything today.

And maybe the rumors are false and the phone will not release for a couple more weeks.

yeah its the holidays and no one will be inside except to get more burgers for the grill LOL. So probably see something at the earliest tomorrow or within a few days of launch (If they are truely launching it when its been rumored to). If not then I guess the wait continues.

I would expect an announcement on Tuesday, Verizon usually announces things a couple of days out, plus the holiday and its a D-Fill for the first week so they may not see any urgency to get the announcement out. Plus all the execs and PR folks are enjoying their day off, well I hope at least some folks are.

I have an "i talked to vzw sales reps" story:

Stopped in yesterday to get questions answered about data grandfathering, the last New Every Two, tether vs hotspot, account split, yadda yadda.

I told the guys i would be popping in at opening on the 14th to buy a device. DudeA asks me which one, i tell him Droid 3. DudeC says he's done the training on it. I mention that I've downloaded the user guide. Dude B says "And I'm pretty sure we're not supposed to be talking about this."

So I say, "Umm..how about the weather this weekend! Isn't it great!" And they're all "yeah!"

And Dude A was about to give me his card, but remembered he was going to be out camping that day. So he pointed to his two colleagues and said "But either of these guys can help you out."

So there's my "vzw rep" story. It was amusing at the time.

Today is the calm before the storm.I'm betting Verizon announces the Droid 3 on tuesday but the bigger news item will be the official announcement of VZW's new Tiered Data Plans for Smartphones.Verizon will make a big push to get as many people as possible signed up for the current Unlimited Smartphone Data Plan Add-On @ $29.99. ChaChing! :-$

Still no "official" word from Verizon. If you do a search under SmartPhones and Motorola you will see it shows 9 results but only displays 8. So its clearly there just not turned on. I have a feeling it won't show until 12:01 AM in order to prevent anyone from getting it under the unlimited data.

We just received the store model Droid 3 and all the advertisement stuff for the phone today. Shouldn't be too long, but then again we received that stuff for the droid charge about a month before that was released. I work for an authorized retailer, haven't been given an official release date tho. I'm keeping my eye's and ears open for this and the droid bionic because I know they will be a hot item at the store!

Hmm if this was true it wouldn't be the one bit surprising. The only reason verizon is good in my eyes is because of their coverage (and customer service I guess). As far as their business practices go I am definitely not a big fan.

Yeah the slider felt fine, the keyboard looked pretty cool, I didn't get to mess with it for too long as we were super busy.. Hoping to check it out a little more tomorrow. It is more of a full keyboard, has the numbers in their own row above the letters. I think it resembled a computer keyboard more than anything.
