Still, No update to Gingerbread, Samsung doens't change!

ahh, still waiting on that update are you???

this would be reason number 1,623,901 why I will not buy another Samsung device - Love my new Moto Photon and not even thinking about buying the new Samsung epic4gtouch...........

I cant say I wont ever buy another samsung device because they do make good hardware( minus keyboards ). I will just make sure they have nothing to do with the software updates

I already bought from Samsung again... we'll see how it goes this time around. I'd have to say though my Epic Touch is what I was hoping my Epic was going to be when it first came out. Minus the keyboard of course...

Is the Nexus Prime going to be a Samsung phone?

The unfortunate realization I have is exactly what you and others have said: Those Samsung phones have beautiful screens and the hardware is exceptional.

It will be a Samsung phone but it will be android pushing the updates not Samsung. I am looking at the prime or the Motorola RAZR as my next device. The Prime for the update status but the Motorola for the great cell radios they use. Either way it won't be on sprint. A great phone is only worth it if you have the network to back it up and as of right now Sprint's network in the central midwest isn't worth s***.

I'm unsure if I would get another Samsung. I'm happy with the hardware but frustrated with lack up updates like everyone else is. I've had sporadic problems with BT but nothing I can't live with. I've read about GPS issues but never read about the issues people were having because my GPS was solid. Up until about a month ago, for the last month my GPS has been rather unriliable which is quite frustrating.

I'm reading about all these phones but none of them have keyboards. I'm pretty frustrated the new Epic doesn't have a keyboard, that's the main reason I bought the Epic. Do any new Sprint phones in the pipeline have keyboards?

Yeah, same here. I'd love to get the supposed Nexus Prime when it comes out, but I don't think it will be here in time to use my upgrade before I have to wait another 10 months or so, thanks to Sprint axing the Premier program. Oh well. My plan is to get the Epic 4g Touch on Dec 1-31, assuming the Prime is on Verizon exclusively for a time, then, if the Prime comes out on Sprint soon, then I'll just sell the E4GT and get the Prime. Hopefully it'll be released on Sprint before then. I mean, the original Nexus one has GB. I mean seriously... Someone needs to get their act together.

And I think the new trend for all these new phones is to be thin and sleek. Kind of hard to do that with a physical keyboard. My wife is noticing this trend too as she originally wanted my Epic when I upgraded. I told her to just bite the bullet and upgrade with me as she's eligible for upgrade on Dec 1st too. Really, the virtual keyboard is not all that bad. Will be even easier to use on a larger screen. I originally bought my Epic because of the keyboard, but honestly, I seldom ever use it. The vkb is more than enough for my needs.

Is it safe to assume you meant the Motorola Photon, and NOT the RAZR? If you did mean the RAZR, I'll let 2004 know you're on your way.

Some users want keyboards. Obviously we don't expect our phones to be as thin as phones without keyboards. If they aer eliminting features that people want because it's not trendy then that's just stupid. Someone will hopefully make a phone with a keyboard and get all of our business. That's priority number one for me, I'm willing to put up with all kinds of shortcomings as long as I have a keyboard.

And I disagree, yes, virtual keyboard is *that bad* when compared to a real keyboard. At least to me. No matter how much I try to wean myself off the Epic's physical keyboard I always go back to it. I hate touch keyboards. And I've tried a TON of touch keyboards including several swipe-styles.

Ironically, Swype on the Epic was much better in Eclair than in Froyo. Who knows, maybe if we get Gingerbread it will get better again...

I will never buy another phone with the name Samsung. Tired of waiting for updates long after every other phone manufacturer has put theirs out. An IPhone or maybe an HTC but I am done with Samsung!:(

The update situation will never change. As long as 90% of the epic owners don't give a rats butt about updates, niether will samsung. I will most likely continue to use this phone for the entire 2 year contact and be perfectly happy. Most people feel the same as I.

Most of the people on this forum are not the average user. You guys are power users or techno geeks (however you want to say it) and theres nothing wrong with that because you guys push the market. But you are also a very small segment of the market.

It is what it is.....

I love this... Verizon is releasing *their* Epic (aka Stratosphere) and it comes already preloaded with GB! how sweet is that?! so THAT is where what the leaked builds were destined to go!

so... this makes me wander: will Stratosphere/Verizon Epic be stuck with GB or will it be updated to ICS at some point (i highly doubt big red would release a phone and not have it supported and updated ever)? is it possible then that Sprint Epic 4g will see ICS, be it through custom roms based on ICS for Stratosphere or even... OTA???

Not quite ICS, but GB leak and the ICS feel, courtesy of ACS...

[rom] acs ics eh17 beta 4 10/12/121 - xda-developers

Have been using for a little while now. Very zippy, battery hungry...much more so than Simply AOSPv4 that was previously on my phone. Will wait to see if the FCs and random reboots start happening like they did with other GB leaks.

Still on EG22 modem...
