I've been noticing this strange behavior and want to see if anyone else has noticed this.

While using the stock browser, if I go to a webpage all the colors on it look fine, until I put my finger on the screen. When I do this the colors become lighter and I can even noticed a checkered pattern in certain colors, it's almost like the quality of pictures/backgrounds immediately goes down upon me touching the screen. It's really starting to bother me.

Is this normal or do I need to swap out my phone?

Mine does the same... I only notice it when I press down on images to save them... doesn't really bother me since as soon as I lift my finger the screen goes back to normal resolution and looks marvelous again...:)

Edit...

It's not just the stock browser... it also happens to me when I'm using my current browser, Dolphin HD...

I just realized it also happens in SkyFire. If you're on a webpage with colors that aren't black or white and you slowly scroll, it's pretty noticeable. So I guess it's a software thing then?

it looks like it renders a lower resolution version of the image for performance.

I supposed this could be caused by the PenTile Matrix design of the SAmoled screen and not the app itself.

That's what I was thinking but I don't see this happening outside of browsers.

I see this happen in the Pulse app all the time. If I put my finger on the screen the text becomes much blurrier/pixelated, but the second I lift my finger it goes back to normal. Doesn't really bother me, but I admit I haven't noticed it in the browser or any other app besides pulse o.O
