Stock Mail App Not Deleting

I bit the bullet and installed 4.4.2 after hearing that tethering was restored. Now I'm having problems with the stock mail app. When I swipe to delete or hit the trash can icon, the message often reappears seconds later. I typically have to delete the message several times before it finally stays away. This problem occurs with IMAP and Exchange accounts, and it didn't happen with the stock mail app in previous versions.

Is anyone else encountering this problem? I'd prefer not to have to install another mail app because it's a hassle to load in multiple accounts' worth of server info, signatures, etc. (I'm a freelance writer, so I have a half-dozen accounts, some provided by clients.) But I need to get this resolved ASAP because it undermines the ability to manage email when I'm out of the office.

It may be a problem with the syncing? I personally do not have this problem and have 4 accounts set up in the e-mail app. What does happen sometimes is that I will delete something, the message will reappear in my inbox for a brief second then disappear again.

Yes, it does appear to be sync related.
