I have my new OnePlus 12 (running Android 16) rooted, up and running. Thanks all for helping me resolve some issues. Today while using it, when I was typing on the default keypad, word suggestions showed, which is good; but also icons appeared. Is there some way to stop these bleepity-bleep icons from appearing?

Is your stock keyboard Google's Gboard?
Check in the keyboard settings if word suggestions can be turned off
Thanks for the reply and 'yes' it is gBoard. However, I have no idea how to find its settings. One site suggested Settings > System > Languages & input > Gboard, but when I search for gBoard in settings, nothing shows up.

If you're sure that you're using Gboard it should appear as an app in your app drawer. When you say, "when I search for Gboard in settings, do you mean you went page by page looking for Gboard or did you use the search tool that appears at the top of the settings menu? If you're not, use the search tool and type Gboard in the search bar on the setting menu or in your app drawer.

I feel dumb. I opened Settings, went to Apps, turned on Show System, and I found gboard. However, there I see not icon to run it, thus I have no idea how to access its settings.

Also, I opened Settings and searched for 'Corr', but the screen shown by mustang7757 did not appear.

It seems that I need to access gboard settings.

Did some looking around and what tube517 suggested is what I found. I opened Google Play, asked to see system apps, and I saw gboard. It had one big button - uninstall. Clicked that, it did something,t hen showed two buttons: open and update. Clicked Open and nothing happened, clicked Update and I am back to where I was.

Bottom line: cannot run gboard...
