Stop with the giant phones

... I need a decent size phone I can use for emailing and work and some news apps and can use with one hand comfortably
If that's all you really need then who cares about the specs, the Nexus 4, Moto X, HTC Mini, Samsung S4, mini should suffice. It's not to like they put crap hardware on those phones just not the top specs.

Hell I was able to do all those activities on my single core Vibrant. I went with the Note because I wanted a bigger screen it's easier to read, write emails and type on.

I'm so tired of giant phones I can't comfortably use with 1 hand. The HTC one is my favorite phone but it's too big then they make a mini but lower the specs. I don't want an iPhone.

Will android ever make a 4.3-4.5 inch top of the line phone? I'm getting annoyed with these giant phones

Get a moto x. A lot of people love that phone and say the size it's just right.

I love my Galaxy S4 but agree that all the "mini" versions should have top of the line hardware too!

Well, good luck.

The Sony Xperia Z1 f (aka Z1 mini) is what a mini phone should be, full specs that truly rival the bigger brother, completely crushes all other mini phones and is a phone that the masses would want. Hope the other phone makers are paying attention. Mini doesn't mean a phone with last year's specs

Hmm I'll have to look into the z1 mini. Thanks for the feedback. I love my blackberry q10 but wish it was android. That droid pro back in the day seems like it would have been bad ***

No love for the Moto X? Many people who have used it along with the other top phones on the market say that it's just as fast if not faster. Maybe not in benchmarks, but in actual usage.

Honestly, I hear you with the phones getting too big. When I went on vacation earlier this year, I was frustrated because I couldn't fit my phone in my pocket for easy transportation. As a result, I was forced to hold it in my hand. I like to use my phone with one hand, and for people like me who have small hands, these massive phones are just too big.

He's obviously a specwhore. He seems to care more about what a spec sheet says than actual usage.

I agree that the moto x is almost prefect. That is hard for a manufacture to get it right, but moto did.

I guess I'm not big on watching movies an videos on my cell phones that's why I could careless about the 5" screens though

How about...reading?!

I used my Note 2 to read Kindle books. I could NOT read Kindle books on anything smaller than 5". Note 2 was like a God-Send...got to finish some chapters on corporate finance for a grad school class. Couple that with multi-tasking capabilities, and I'm able to get stuff done. It was no-brainer going up to the Note 3, and even if a Note 4 comes out, Samsung would have to REALLY convince me to upgrade within two years.

Sorry, kid, but small screens are going the way of the flip. Yeah, they'll still be around, but wait until Apple comes out with a 5" then you'll sing the same tune (it sounds like...)

I understand both sides because I'm torn also. I went from a very small screen (which I still alternate with here on WiFi) to 4.7" on this phone. It's easier to type on this, and easier to read, and it's just a much better phone overall, but I have to admit it can be hard to hold.

I used my small one two-handed though, but this one does give me hand cramps just holding it for hours.

So, my hands like small, except for typing, and my eyes like big.

I am going to add to the votes of the Moto. I love the device, and have no regrets leaving the S3. There are a couple things I miss about it though, but overall the X is a device where the specs don't seem so great, but the hardware was utilized properly with the software.

Not so much a spec who're as long as it runs fine. I like the Moto x I looked up the size though and it seems it be pretty big in itself the body of it. Maybe Im thinking of something different I'll have to check it out again

Those few millimeters make a world of difference in comfort and usability. What I can tell you is that it feels great in the hand. Better than the Nexus 4 for sure.

I'm from a different world than most of you. I'm older than some rocks in the street outside. I'm mostly deaf so I rarely talk on a cellphone. I text, read messages and emails, have a couple of dictionary apps, a pedometer app, and, of course, a Kindle app.

I got a Samsung S3 Mini. I'm aware of it's deficiencies but they don't bother me. I can wear it conveniently on my belt and bring it out with one hand. I can read my messages, as long as I'm not in the sun, and the biggest surprise was that in a pinch I can read a book with the Kindle app.

I have friends who have little should bags to carry their bigger devices. That's not for me.

You need to hold it in hand. It really is the perfect size phone. Just looking at measurements won't tell the whole story.

Haha well I just bought a nexus 7 so I kind of went in the opposite direction. I think the S4 mini is perfect size I'm gonna wait until att comes out with it though because I want the LTE the international versions only come with hspa+

Man, I had the Droid Pro. It was my first Android phone, naturally, as I had just switched from a BlackBerry Tour 9630 (loved that phone). To this day, I really love the Droid Pro's form factor. It had a sizable screen (for the time), and it was touchscreen! And Motorola didn't release it with gimped specs, either.

That was the very reason why I bought my Note. I use to carry my nook everywhere because I'm an avid reader. After the note I quit using tablets altogether.
