We live in the country and use a wireless internet thru a local company. Our only option. Other than $80 to $100 a month companies for 5gb a month. The company is down or severely slow more than it works correctly. Dies trying to connect to a non working wifi drain yiur battery more than just being on 4g lte??

I think it does. Fighting to get signal is a battery drain. If you have decent 4g then use it. I rely on it. I don't have wifi. I only have the phone and my jetpack for wifi

It will because you'll now have two operations attempting to use radio functions. Generally, the lower the frequency range and assuming the same bandwidth, you'll need more power to achieve the same radio function. This pretty much doubles by adding wifi toggling on and off with 4g radio.
