Here's my theory on this. Android is for lack of better term a techie's platform. Techies are known for their hubris and backing of products that they enjoy almost to a fault. They treat their chosen platform as a personal investment and very few if any people want to believe that they made a bad investment. Be that with personal time/funds/whatever. It then follows that some will defend their decision as the only decision especially when challenged on perceived faults, or advantages of other platforms.
It all plays very well in the hands of brand loyalty and other things that make the producer of said platform tons of money. But it does very little for the community. Largely segmented people on opposite sides of the same fence with very few crossing the narrow borders from HTC-land to Samsung-topia to Motorola-ville(Yes I left out LG but they're not usually a huge contender).
The closest I can liken this whole segmentation thing to is politics. You'll find the same mindset of "I can't be wrong". Die hard believers in one philosophy over the other even as the philosophies change. I say hang the nonsense and go where the wind(or in the case of Android) hardware takes you. Don't think that any one device is better than the other strictly due to your decision to purchase it and your ownership of it. Enjoy your device and don't beleaguer others for enjoying theirs, because unlike politics someone spent their hard earned money just like you did to purchase their new toy. Don't kick dirt on it and rub it in that yours is newer and shinier.

agreed...
and in response to Major Payne, The only forum around here that gets nasty seems to be the nexus guys going at each other. yeah you have jerkwads in every forum, but they do not rule the roost like those guys. I am waiting for them to have a war in NYC or something....
