Sudden, unprovoked, loud buzzing from earpiece during a call

I was on a call and all of a sudden, the earpiece starting buzzing continuously. Not a good buzz (is there such a thing?). I couldn't hear the other person but when it stopped, about 8-10 seconds, my friend was still talking so she didn't hear it. We continued the call for another 10 minutes and it was fine.

Anyone experienced this?

I've had calls cutting out, like I can't hear them and they can't hear me, but no loud buzzing sounds. If it's just a once off thing, then I'd say ignore it. If it happens again, then maybe raise it with Google.

Hopefully the February patch will fix more issues.

Yes, interestingly, just experienced that this evening. The other person didn't hear anything. Wondering if it's a carrier issue vs a phone issue?

Don't think it's a carrier issue, this has happened to me about 3 or four times since the January update and it has been reported multiple time by other users on Reddit on different carriers. If you switch from earpiece to speaker phone or vice versa, the noise goes away and you can continue the call. Not a good thing though as the pitch is really high and loud. I actually hurts.

No, the phone's top speaker. Not on speakerphone. Right up against my ear.

I forgot to mention, I also had trouble bringing up the phone screen when I took it away from my ear. I was going to just hang up, thinking my friend is being blasted too.

How long you guys on call for when it happens?

Only about 10 seconds for me. I had just gotten through the hellos when it happened. Had to hang up. When the person called back, they said they had not heard the sound. Only happened on that one call, so fingers crossed it was an anomaly.

It seems to be a couple of minuets actually. I can only recall it happening twice maybe three times.

It was about 3-5 minutes in. I'm not sure but it wasn't right away.

I had the same thing once before the February update. I haven't had it since but I don't have very many phone calls.
