Super Sad

I dropped my N9 face side down on the concrete garage floor from about 3 feet up. Zagg glass screen protector cracked and shattered but the phone face was unscathed. I would never carry around a $1000 piece of glass without protection.

Wow , that's good nothing happened to the screen . I'm a believer in glass screen protector saved my other phones.

You look at that second picture - it looks like the damage more to the left never would have been stopped by tempered glass screen protector. It looks like it may have landed right on one of the teeth of the escalator treads... ixnay! That display was doomed as soon as it hit, I think, protector or not!

It's tough to say ,but the dome glass does protects that part . My s9+ had a similar hit on the side with the dome on it and it cracked the protector not the screen.

Oh man 😱😱😱 my heart dropped just seeing that. I'm really sorry this happened to you. I really hope that they'll fix it for you quick. I always have a Whitestone dome screen protector on my Note. Had it on my Note8 and it saved my phone from getting a nasty crack when it fell off my bed and made a God awful loud bang when it hit the floor screen down. The protector broke but my screen was good as new.

Sorry that happened. I hope the repair is quick and successful. So we can all learn from your mistake, can you tell us how you dropped the phone?

going up on an escalator, it slips off my hand, drop to the front escalator maybe from 10 inches tops, now I’m sure it landed curve-screen side first on the teeth of the escalator…..broke my phone heart and wallet lol

200 is better than, "SORRY you have to buy a new 1200 dollar phone!"

Sometimes you need luck on your side.

I remember dropping my S7 edge from shoulder height, it fell face down and I swear not a single scratch!?!

Or you just have the worst. LOL

I dropped my OnePlus 6 which had a case but for some reason sometimes it comes off in the corner, can't explain. So I got out of my car and guess where the impact is? FML. Small chipped.

Did you have a case on it? If it fell screen side down it should be fine then if you got a big case like the Defender on it. The problem is if it hits something jagged on it's side sticking out of the ground or something and comes into contact. There are currently no cases that really protect the sides well. This is why I HATE curved screens.

I don't understand the concept of the curved screens. It just gives me less screemn real estate to use. I don't care bout the stupid edge panel, I hardly ever use it.

I don't think I can afford GLASS screen protectors if they're going to break every time the phone falls on a hard surface (face down) or pop off with other falls. BB has replaced mine 2x for free but I can't expect them to keep doing that. On my other phones I had Zagg film protectors. Never a cracked screen (and I dropped my S7 dozens of times...HARD!). But my S5 and S7 weren't curved screens. I wish I could find a film that wouldn't come up around the edges of my N9.

I have a phone "ring" on the back of my N9. The phone is SO much more secure in my hands, plus, it's helps a lot with hand fatigue when holding the phone for a long time. It keeps you from dropping it on your face when you're laying in bed looking at your phone ;) This phone could do some damage if it landed on your face! LOL

I caught a VERY serious break last night, my iPad Pro 10.5 fell about 2 or 3 feet and came through without a scratch! It was a frightening few seconds though as I picked it up! LOL

One the 6? It had a case that OnePlus included, TPU.

Like I said just simply bad luck sometimes.

The S7 edge no case, falling face first helped. LOL

WOW. shoulder height fall with NO case on the S7 edge and NO damage. Wow. I'm assuming the TPU case OnePlus included was one of those really cheap thin ones. Don't give my protection.

speck grip case

Thanks, I'll make sure to not get one of those. A lot of the cases are useless. If the phone doesn't land perfectly flat 9 times out of 10 you're f'd. Especially if it hits the corner of something. I smashed my 8 the same way.

BTW, I do have samsung care or whatever they contract with that 3rd party company. The replacement I got feels like a bootleg Note 8, def refurbished, just fyi.

I use edge panel, but I dun think they need curve edge in order to have edge panel, it will work on a flat screen too. So yes, the curve edge really served no practical purpose except for aesthetic (but not everyone find it nice too)

Flat edge would be easier imo too. I'd prefer it. But still. Love the Note 9.

So sorry that happened to you. That had to feel awful picking up your phone. I hope they can fix it quickly for you.

I am not sure if this will be of any help, but I have the "Invisible Defender" plastic screen protector on my Note 9.
The plastic comes around the right and left side edges, and slightly unto the back panel.
Probably would not have protected your phone though.
I keep my phone in a wallet case.
