Swipe text issue

My wife showed me an issue with her phone when she is texting every time she used the K button as the first letter in a text it would freeze for a second and then go back to the messaging screen and not put a K on the screen. If a K was used anywhere else in a word other than the first letter it would work. Solved the issue by switching Input type to Android or samsung keyboard but was wondering if any one else was having this issue. This was only for the onscreen keyboard, the slide out one has no problem with the K in any mode. Again the [problem was in Swipe mode. Thanks all

I was having this issue with the letter "I". It must be sporadic from one phone to the next because I broke my Stratosphere that was doing it and the replacement they sent me has never had this problem.

Btw...my phone had the same exact symptoms; my phone would freeze for a few seconds and I would have to change the input method to something else and then back. Like I mentioned earlier, mine did this only when typing the letter "I" which is pretty close to the "k" so it could be a hardware issue in that area. Just fyi.

I was having this issue too, I can't remember the exact letters, but I just switched to the samsung keyboard. I like it better than swype. I just don't understand the ways of drawing lines to type I guess...

I love Swype but it's very quirky and since they don't offer updates to the preinstalled version I am exploring third party apps. I tried Touchpal but it seems to be quirkier than Swype. Using Swype now to type this because I'm hooked on it. About every third word is wrong...uuuuggghhh. Very frustrating.

I also get the same issue with the letter "S" which is far from the "I" and "K". Also I have had this phone for almost 1 and 1/2 years so I don't know why it started doing this just in the past couple of weeks or so. And I know I have started words with "S" in the past and they have worked. This is getting to be very frustrating.

Also has any one else had an issue with their phone after upgrading to gingerbread. I upgraded my phone when it came available but now I regret it. I can go into the dialer, messages or into the contacts and then after I get in I type about 2 or 3 letters/numbers and it kicks me out to the home screen. I can barley dial a phone number or find a contact to dial. I have found that when using a thirdparty theme like golancher it doesn't happen very often but if I don't use it the phone is almost unusable. I called T-mobile and they said they don't have a fix for it yet.

Hi Baxter...I was just curious what version of Swype you have. The reason I ask is I managed to sneak an update to mine. There's a loophole that I happened upon and since I updated the preinstalled version mine has gotten so much better.

Granted I wasn't having the freezing on certain letters on this phone. It was my original one that I dropped and broke the display on but my preinstalled version was painfully inaccurate and updating it improved it tremendously.

Anyway if this is something you are interested in pursuing just let me know and I'll fill you in on how I did it.

I was having same issue with 2 or more keys but now a miracle happened and the issue is automatically solved.

I am having a huge problem with inaccuracy on my Samsung keyboard as well. With each Android upgrade, the accuracy is degrading. I swipe (draw) "happy" (very carefully) and it suggests "hayatoma." Seriously? This kind of thing happens constantly and drives me insane. I don't want to pay for Swype, but maybe that's the answer. I guess I don't understand why the degradation of what used to be a significantly accurate drawing mechanism.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Mike
