I heard that some reviewers found that swiping one's finger print to unlock the S5 took several attempts. Is that true or is there a special way to do it so as to get an unlock on every attempt?

Using two hands it works every time. Just make sure you do it down the middle

Someone on here mentioned that you could set it up with your (amusing) thumb going over the sensor "sideways" but that fellow would have to confirm.

You can^^^^, I have it set up that way. I'm not liking the finger scanner so far. I can't get the technique down. I'll give it some more time. I also have an iPhone 5s, the fingerprint touch ID is so easy to use on it. We'll see.

It was pretty easy to set up...but I use Delayed Lock so I'm stuck using a pin or password.

Curious if this technique would work on the S5. Some iPhone users increased the accuracy/success rate of their fingerprint scanner by registering the same finger print more than once. If I recall, the S5 allows 3 separate fingerprints to be registered. Just scan your most used digit twice instead of once. You will use up 2 slots for 1 finger/thumb, but the increased success rate may be worth it. Just a thought.

I just did this. Used all three prints for my sideways thumb and now it works about 95% of the time. So good job!

Did you scan your thumb the same way everytime? or did you slight vary the angle for each scan?

I changed the angle of my thumb every time to ensure all of the possible ways in which I'd swipe were included. All Samsung needs to do now is allow more than three prints.

Cool... I'll do the same tomorrow hopefully. Thanks for the feedback!

Ya the scanner works pretty good. I'm going to to keep it on for now. You just have to be sure to swap over the entire home button and not to go too fast.

I am starting to get frustrated with the finger print scanner. I feel like no matter which way I scan my finger it won't work

I made a video showing the one handed scan. Uploading it now give me a couple minutes

I can't wait to set this up on my phone. So glad it works sideways because that's much more practical than the way that Samsung demonstrates.
