Swype and the thunderbolt

Put the Evo version on the GFs TB, it works as well as the installed version on my Epic.

I think I'll wait. My Swiftkey is working nicely :) so I'll just keep that for now. I don't know anything about fixing my Bolt if I break it.

Installed swype beta on my tbolt and had the autospacing issues (on stock SMS). Installed the EVO version from ml33's post on page 5 and it works perfect. Thanks guys!

I'm gonna chime I'm too... I just installed the EVO version found on the previous pages and out installed perfectly! No problems with auto spacing and I am typing just as fast as I was on the droid x with swype. Thanks to all for finding this out. Omg, soo fast!

Same issue. It clearly is an HTC issue just like the Swype response said, because even the stock HTC keyboard is not autospacing after you put in some words that you select from the suggested words.

Guess I'll download the EVO version for now. :\

The EVO version works perfectly with the thunderbolt. It may not be the newest version but I haven't had one one problem yet.

I think removing the beta version would be advisable. It would just lessen the chances of conflicts I think.

Just so you all know, the beta version does autospace in handcent. It must recognize it as an autospace field.

I strongly recommend giving it a try, even if you have already fixed the problem by installing the evo swype. Handcent is so customizable!

I also started using handcent and it works fine there... but i didn't get autospacing/capitalization in the default messaging program. I'm just using handcent to fix it.

What happened to me was that I turned off the phone to bump charge last night and after I turned it back on swype was gone. I couldn't get it to work again no matter what I did... and then suddenly this morning magically it started working. IT was strange, I can't explain it. Now I'm afraid to power off the phone again.

Whenever my swype beta stops working on my thunderbolt for whatever reason, I just follow the suggestion to long press, switch to another keyboard, then switch back to swype. This has cleared up not autospacing between words. Also this cleared a problem I had of swype not working in handcent one day.

Using the evo version, works great. Didn't realize the auto-spacing happens when you start typing in the next word, not right after you finish entering one.

This looks really cool, gonna try it tonight:themed swype keyboard

I have a message from HTC and they say it's Verizon's fault that Swype was not installed on their device... but they failed to address the issue with SMS app on the Thunderbolt has incorrectly flagged the input field for no-auto-space and no-caps.

I have replied to HTC message and asked for more on the SMS issue... I can't wait for this reply.

I was having swype issues for awhile (no autospace, keyboard freezing, etc). I'd have to leave and come back to it (bc I'm impatient and easily frustrated). Anywhoo, I ended up cleaning my screen with one of those fancy cloths (the one I use on my flat screen, can't remember the name) and I haven't had problems since. The auto space just showed up on its own....

I did get an email back from HTC about the issue with Swype. They say we need to work with Swype to find out what the issue.

So I removed Swype and the install program... then loaded the EVO version... so far everything works. SMS's are working... so why does Swype consider this a device issue?

Everything with swype beta has been working fine for me except that if I reboot my phone, I have to switch input methods back to the touch input, and then switch it back for swype to actually work. But once I do that its perfect.

Are you saying you are using the BETA version of Swype, and you do not have an issue with Auto-capitalization or Auto-spacing? Or did you install the EVO version?

Yup, I signed up for beta about a year ago with them. I don't know if its an "evo" version, its just whatever their beta installer installs. Auto caps and Auto spacing work fine. No other issues except for that reboot issue, but even then it only doesn't detect the swype input, you can still just use the touch input. Once I switch back and forth it works perfectly though.

I love you guys! I got handscent and evo swype and it's amazing! Whoot! Mine has no issues putting spaces for me, doesn't auto cap though
