Swype and the thunderbolt

Looks like I managed to uninstall the stock keyboard while trying to install Swype. Anyone know how to get it back?

There is a touch input settings option. Clicking that brings keyboard types, which lists, "QWERTY", "Phone Keypad", and "Compact QWERTY". So I guess it's still installed, but for whatever reason clicking inside a text field doesn't bring up the keyboard.

--Edit--
Fixed the problem with a restart.

Having the same problem, though my Swype works fine everywhere but in the Messaging app. If it isn't working at all for you, have you been using the Swype beta on another device before? If so, you have to reset the device setting for your account at the Swype website for it to work.

With swype keyboard open, long press and select input method. Select other keyboard, same steps and select swype keyboard again. Had this same glitch on my evo. Keyboard should work until next reboot....

Didn't work for me...

I am using the one for the Evo and it works great in the messaging app, as well as every other app. Thanks for sharing.

Downloading from the link certainly makes a working version - its obviously a step backwards as some features aren't present but that is completely made up for by making swype actually faster than typing. With the space issue it wasnt.

Got everything to work EXCEPT auto spacing in text messages.. anyone figure it out?

I registered and confirmed my email but when I go to the link, I get a message that says, "Sorry, this is not an Android phone". What am I doing wrong?

update: Never mind, I figured it out.

I'm having the same issues as other have mentioned with swype not doing the auto-space corrently in messaging. I had used the "SlideIT" keyboard on my xoom so I thougth i would try it ont he TB as well. It seems to work well, so until they update swype, SlideIT is a good substitute.

Im so used to spacing myself I just chalked it up to continuing to do that but if I figure it out I will let you know.

click on the side let the tutorial open it will explain how to do the spacing, make sure to look in the swype setting and check auto spacing, if that doesn't work hold down the tutorial button for a few secs until the tutorial pops up then you will see one guide that says auto spacing read it, its too much to type. Let me know if you need help.

Yes I am using the TB and it works for me. What I am saying is if you look to the left side where a squigley S is you will also see a little i hold that down until swype help table of contents pop up, in there you will see Auto spacing click that and it will give you instructions. Hope this helps.

All that does is direct me to swype settings to turn on autospacing, which is already on.

Did you download swype beta directly from their website or did u use some other swype file? I heard some people using evo4g's swype file and they got it to work that way.

Edit: Looks like its a problem on HTC's end... On the swype forum boards:
So after a bit of research it looks like this is an issue with the SMS app on the Thunderbolt. Swype respects input field flags that the developer can set, so you'll notice that the address bar, for example, doesn't auto-space (because you don't want spaces in your URLs). Apparently, the SMS app on the Thunderbolt has incorrectly flagged the input field for no-auto-space and no-caps. We'll continue to investigate the issue to make sure it's not our fault somehow, but I would bug HTC about it
