anyone on a hero manage to get swype to work?

I turned off the auto-space and I'm entering the space manually to fix this problem... I'm finding that I can still go pretty fast, although some people may not like it this way. It's all personal preference, I guess.

Oh, i didnt know that was the fix to that problem, very cool, thanks for sharing.

I think my only complaint as of yet with swype, is the fact that you have to do the squiggly deal to get two letters..like"wii"..other than that, I love it!

I've used Swype since Christmas Day and haven't turned back. The only thing I use the physical keyboard for is SNesoid controls.

I've always hated ts keyboards, but Swype is a blessing. So now that I've found Swype I would be all over a keyboardless Droid.

lol..I had only been using the hard keyboard until I found swype..I have only used it to type a few websites in..I'm almost ready to jump on the"I wish my droid didn't have the hard keyboard"bandwagon..

ok finally tried swype on my droid today. im sorry I didn't find it very impressive. I know there is a learning curve but it just doesn't feel right or feel natural. Also the landscape keyboard is horrible. Why would the space bay key be all the way in the corner?

I know this is a beta release so hopefully they will clean up a lot of this before it's final and it cost money.

We are glad to hear that you guys like Swype, but we are obligated to state that we don't condone such activity nor support the result. Naturally those of you asking for new languages and features should wait until we launch a device in your market. Obviously, we won't support unlicensed versions of our software.
Swype has only released its? software to OEM partners under NDA and to select journalists for review. We did not release this software to the broader market, as our preferred business model is OEM preload of software on devices.

We have not tested this version on the Droid or other WVGA products and cannot attest to its? robustness. We do know that certain key features of Swype (double tap editing/replacing of words, full language dictionaries, UI elements) are not working and/or present in this version.

We believe when OEMs release Swype as a preloaded application Swype will perform much better than the current unsanctioned version being distributed on the web. The Samsung Omnia II (on Verizon) is currently available and customers should encourage carriers and OEMs to include Swype on upcoming devices.

Well I have tested it, it rocks on the Droid BIGTIME, and based on Swype's current business model, I would LOVE to tango with their lawyers

Hey I know how it goes, and far be it that I want you guys to feel like you're getting burdened legally over stuff like this. I think the users totally understand. Honestly we need to give props to Swype for changing their stance somewhat. They recognize that their software is good and locking it down in this manner only hinders them.

I'd honestly like for there to be a way I could pay for this. I think their business model is completely flawed and that they're missing out on revenue. I understand the "controlling the whole widget" approach but that goes against the grain for most Android users

I agree and I don't think they started off realizing how much people would love their keyboard. I personally haven't tried it yet, but it definitely looks interesting. Training my brain to not lift my fingers off the screen each time I changed letters seems like it would be a challenge.

I just held an IM conversation earlier today, it honestly feels just right now. It's like going from hunt and peck to mastering the keyboard.

If you swype off the top of the keyboard and then to your other letters, it will put a capital at the front. If you swype off the top of the keyboard and do a loop and then to your other letters, it will capitalize the entire word.

so to swype "I've", Start are "I" go above the keyboard, go to the period key (which as the apostrophe above it) then the v and e. Other contractions can work the same way.

It takes 1 click to get to a ususable number pad, 2 to get to a block. Also if you have to type just a few numbers, you can long click on the regular keypad to type your numbers.
