Ok, I've asked about this in several threads but never seem to get a response, so it's time for it's own thread. I hope i'm not the only one seeing this issue. It doesn't seem to be ROM specific because I've been having the issue since DL09.

Here's the Scenario:
I go into settings/Account and sync/google(sync is ON) - but i'm only syncing Contacts, Gmail & Picasa Web Albums because when I select any Google Calenders my phone seems to go into an endless sync and eventually locks up and becomes intermittently unresponsive.

Something about syncing Google Calendar just kills this phone and it's really frustrating. I know I could simply not sync my google calendar but I have hangups about disabling a prime "feature" of the phone.

edit: ps...could someone remind me how to take a screenshot with the new SC 2.9 ? thanks

It appears to also be draining my battery very rapidly. When I posted this prior to checking the box to sync the calendar my battery was at 96% ... now it's at 86%

sorry bout that, problems existed since DL09..but currently I'm running SC 2.9
Kernel says - 2.6.32.9
Baseband says - S:i500.04 V.EB01
not sure what modem i'm using, don't even know how to tell. sorry :(

I always do a data and cache wipe, every ROM I flash. Honestly, this problem has existed since the very first 2.2 ROM leaks that were put out. I don't think i've ever successfully synced my Google Calendar.

your base band is your modem.

i couldnt live w/o my google calendar.

try buisness calendar beta or jort calendar.

wait is it the calendar that crashes or the account setting that crashes.

Nah, I'm done trying 2nd hand software to perform stuff that's supposed to work in the stock software.

It's the actual phone that eventually just locks up during the sync process. Nothing really "crashes" in the traditional sense. When I follow the steps described in my initial post to turn on Google Calendar syncing, the little round sync icon eventually shows up in the status bar indicating that it is in the process of syncing. After about 3 minutes, the phone becomes really sluggish and slow response. Eventually the phone locks up, the screen remains lit sometimes or sometimes it just goes black. Ether way, the end result is always that I have to remove the battery in order to regain control of the phone.

Think I fixed it

Ok...I think I fixed it.

I went in and cleared data in the Calendar Storage app. Lost all my appointments but after about 5 minutes it synced everything back up. So then I went in and turned Google Calendar Sync back on and it finally synced without locking up. hopefully it keeps working like this. Thanks for the help gunner!
